Who beat this game? all 100 levels. it was hard! I got bad
ending... anyways, I need this game for my emulator on my
comp! but who has it! someone email it to me!

I've got it for the PC and I've not completed it on that
version or in the arcade.

A mate had it for the nes and we managed to complete it
together in 2 player (I think that's what gives the good
ending?). There was one level in the 60s that you couldn't
do unless you had 2 players or got a warp umbrella a few
levels before.

The nes version also had an extra 100 levels if I remember
correctly.

Thanks for reminding me anbout it *installs PC version*

Ceri JC: yeah man totally this game is just amazing! haha...
fun stuff for sure. Brings back a lot of childhood memories.
Yeah to get the good ending Im sure you have to pass it with
2 players. Which I never did for some reason, by myself was
not too hard. Great game! Emulators rule.

You can cheat the 2 player ending thing by hitting start on
the second player's pad just before defeating grumple gromit
(I think).

What did you think of the sequels (puzzle bobble 2-
different to rainbow islands, rainbow islands, parasol
stars)?

Never got much of a chance to play those, but I know at the
time I totally didnt mind them, have you played them much?

I've still not played parasol stars... I've got Rainbow
islands (including an enhanced version) for the pc and the
amiga. I've played bubble bobble 2 on the nes via emulator,
but it's weak compared to the original. I've just found out
the old DOS based pc rainbow islands & BB 1 don't work under
XP. Looks like I'm stuck with the nes version on my GBA via
emulator :)

hehehe cool!

BTW... Ceri... do you know of a good NES ROM site on the
internet? I know some people got them all over SLSK but I
dont have soulseek on my MACINTOSH at home.. and Im in need
of many good ROMS....

offline Ceri JC from Jefferson City (United States) on 2003-11-27 12:16 [#00967895]
Points: 23533 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

I got all mine a couple of years back before they clamped
down on emulation so I'm a bit out of the loop on where's
best currently. I was looking for one rom that I'd somehow
missed last week and ended up having to use Soulseek to get
it.

Any chance you can get to a pc with SS, burn a cd from that
and use it on your mac? If so gimme a shout and I'll put
together a zip with all the good roms.

Just been playing the nes version and it seems a bit too
slow compared to the PC version (which was indistinguishable
from the arcade).

This is a great game. I've played it so much that it's
really easy to clear all 100 initial levels and the extra
levels to get the good ending.

Bust-a-move was good but it didn't come close to the fun had
at our youth club playing the original Bub and Bob game

I love it.

There's some great mp3 remixes out there of this games music
too. Overclocked is the site name but I can't remember the
URL. Someone here first pointed it out to me.

You don't get the good ending if you beat the game with two
players. I just did this with my friend and we got the bad
ending. To get the good ending you have to put in a code at
the title screen that changes all the monsters in all the
levels, then you have to beat the game without dying:
proof

egad

I'm o.k. with bad ending, that took us long enough.

I remember when I was 7 or 8, I had Bubble Bobble on two 5
1/4" floppies in my swimming bag, that I was going to give
to my best friend after swimming. They ended up getting too
wet. :/
