I do weekly dj gigs at a bar in town. I have been playing there for over a year now and still get paid next to nothing, despite pulling in a gradually bigger crowd over the year. I want to get paid more, it is hard work and takes all day to organise getting my equipment down there and rigged up. The trouble is DJ's are queuing up to play there, and im worried that if I ask for more money I will be out of a job and someone else will play there for a small fee. Are there any XLT Agony aunts out there that can give me some advice?

what advice is there to give?
make a choice. could be you'll have to find another DJ-spot. could be you get payed a bit more from now on.
might be an idea to try and find out what the proprietor thinks of you and your dj-ing. if he likes what you are doing, he is more probable to pay a bit more.

Thanx for the advice Qrter. I know Iam in demand at the venue, I pull in a large crowd of heavy drinkers(£££). So I think I should approach my boss. I guess im just a little paranoid about losing the gig because it means a lot to me, and there is no where else in my town that plays good music.

Its a tough one, since lots of DJs do it for fun, and there are people who will do it for nothing if u don't... but if you are pulling people in, they should give you some money. You could show how you promote it (if u do) and just politely say what you said here...
