How can Windowlicker and Come To Daddy be the most underrated when they're the most famous tunes? And I like Girl/Boy. If anything, I think Ventolin is overrated, and SAW 1 seldom gets the respect it deserves, being overshadowed by its younger sister. |

I think that Windowlicker is pure shite and i don't see why people like it so much! as for Alberto Balasm, it's also a crap song IMO. Girl Boy is defenetly overrated, though i like that one. And I don't think that 4 or Come to daddy are overrated. But that's just my opinion |

Yeah, SAW 85-92 is a little underrated. I quite liked it. I think Donkey Rhubarb is alright, but not the best. Not at all. |

Windowlicker is a great song, including the Jap version and the video outro version. Its pure electro halarity at its finest. And the end distorted guitar like melody is goosebump material. As for Alberto Balsaam, I couldnt praise the harmony on that song enough. All who disagree obviously just signed on to the Twin bandwagon. Go back to moronville where music is much simpler. |

shit!, how can you say alberto balsalm is crap or overated, its a damn fine tuneage, you must have no soul!. I agree totally with IDblokes comments, SAW 1 is a masterpeice, but it is overlooked because its an early work and not as fiddly and technical as more recent stuff. But it is an album full of beautiful tunes. |

I thought I was the only one who didn't Alberto Balsalm. I think the most underrated songs (that I've heard) are Nannou, Start as you mean to go on and Mookid. Nannou is pure beautiful genius, Start has such a beautiful ambient melody combined with the most psyco hardcore aphex beats to make a very uplifting song, and mookid has those great ambient melodies and some quirkiness that make you feel really good, like a kid again. He seems to know how to do that. Wax the Nip is also very good, but has some annoying background hiss (from the echo effects I think) that kind of gives it an excuse (albeit not a very legit one). |

I think Alberto is Aphex´s finest work to date, I don´t see how you could dislike that one, but each to his own I guess. A lot of people seemed disappointed with Windowlicker when it came but I think it´s really wicked, so that´s a underrated one. As for over-rated, I´d say most of the old, hard, distorted stuff ie Caustic Window. That stuff is pretty bland and boring IMO. Over-all a lot of his early stuff is to repetetive for my tastes. |

I think that his older stuff is the best, definitly. You have to find the sublte things in those older tunes. Its amazing stuff, its not just the same things repeated over and over again. There are many things to listen and watch for in those tunes. Its brilliant stuff. I enjoy all the releases he has done, just some more than others ofcourse. Windowlicker is not that great IMO because it seems like he didn't try very hard on those songs. It was a short disc and deserves more songs on it than what it already has. If you think the older harsh stuff is boring, listen again, there are many things that make it stand out from the rest. |

Underrated: Caustic Window, all the Analogue Bubblebaths, Come On You Slags, and Wax the Nip, Selected Ambient Works Volume II. Why people can't appreciate SAW 2 is beyond me -- i think it's beautiful -- who gives a shit if it's minimalistic -- it's DIFFERENT. Overrated: Polygon Window -- SOSW Come to Daddy (but that's probably because that was the first song that gave him a lot of attention --) Did anyone ever see a short-lived MTV show (right before they went to shit) called Twelve Angry Viewers? It was quite a good concept -- these 12 totally different people watched videos that had just been released -- i remember that they gave great marks to Aphex's --- yup, you guessed it -- "Come To Daddy." |
