we just got one.. and we've been plugging it through a vcr
into the tv, because its the only way to get it to work (the
tv has av inputs but for some reason the tv has no av
channel) .. but anyway, a few dvds work fine.. but most of
the dvds we've tried make the screen output oscillate
brightness (like from normal brightness to about half
brightness), and after about 15 seconds of that, the
brightness goes normal but the position of the picture
flickers up and down every second or so.. then after another
15 seconds it goes back to the oscillating brightness.. i'm
thinking its the vcr that causes this problem because the
same thing happened on another tv we tried it on, still
going through the vcr.. but we dont have a tv with working
av inputs to try it on.. and our gamecube looks fine .. so i
dunno.. the dvds we've tried are these:

- autechre gantz graf
- ministry tapes of wrath
- jay and silent bob strike back
- mallrats
- saturday night live eddie murphy *
- saturday night live mike myers *
- autopilot vcd *

* - works fine

anyone know what might be causing this?

and i must also add that it doesnt do the flicker thing when
the dvd is stopped and the background picture is on screen..
however it does it when the dvd is paused (or stillframe
whatever you call it)..

It's the copy protection on the DVD's, it says in the manual
that if you route the DVD player through a VCR you may get
picture quality problems.

There si nothing you can do other than get a TV with proper
connections on it.
