... nice city, although I was too tired to really enjoy
it... but it was interesting anyways...

just after I got off the train this guy from Scotland
stopped me... usually I just walk away thinking the person
is some homeless guy trying to steal something from me (and
maybe he still was) but I listened to the guy... he said he
was from Scotland, but was living in Denmark or something
with his wife and kids... anyways, he said he was on a train
going somewhere (forget where) and he fell asleep and when
he woke up his little carry on bag that he had was stolen...
which included his plane tickets and stuff I assume...
anyways, he gave me this real long story, which I believe...
I dunno, looking at the guy he was dressed well... but damn,
he was there basically begging for money for a plane
ticket... he asked me for like 130 euros... which was too
much for me obviously... and anyways, I was not going to
give a total stranger that much money... so I had to jsut
walk away, but damn I felt bad for the guy... hope he got
home!!

sounds like a big fat scam to me.

why didn't he go to the police and/or try to contact his
wife?

not wanting to be cynical, but people are extremely devious
and ruthless.

there was this one guy in Utrecht who had a similar story,
about him being a foreign architecture student who had by
mistake been left behind etc. etc.

he had a huge story and I didn't want to give him any money
ofcourse.

during a year I met the exact same guy again three times and
he told the exact same story each time.

"why didn't he go to the police and/or try to contact his
wife?"

he did... that was part of his long story, which I left out
here... he told me everything he did, and it seemed totally
realistic... and I believed the guy...

I understand what you're saying though, I've been told to be
careful of this sort of thing, and I have been... but I
don't know, this guy seemed for real...

not much I'm afraid... I should've planned some things, but
I decided to go pretty last minute... like friday night just
before I left work... then I got up saturday and went...
basically just left the central station and walked around,
seeing what I could find... I found a really nice cathedral,
and some other cool statues... bought a couple cds too! :)

I'm just worn out though, and I was so exausted yesterday,
and had a headache cause I was so tired... so, it wasn't as
good as it could've been...

that's the point, him seeming to be for real, I mean.

it's sad if his story was true, but you do have to be pretty
cynical these days.

nod, well I was... I mean goodness, there was no way I was
going to take any cash out there on the street... I told him
I didn't have anything on me, and he suggested I use my bank
card... yeah right... I mean that's an awful lot to ask of
me, just a student there visiting...
