Actually, they're ALL my favorites, it's just Tri Rep was my
first Autechre experience...

Chiastic Slide.

Sometimes when I'm listening to Confield, i'm thinking that
that might be their best work... because it's so unique, it
still surprises me every single time i hear it.

But then i put on Chiastic Slide, and it's just like coming
home. :-) I love that album, it somehow has much more
emotion than Confield. And it always manages to make me feel
happy.

EP7 is an album length EP.
The sound is merely an extension of ideas on LP5. It's not a
real step on, like Confield was. It is, to LP5, as Garbage
is to Amber.

Garbage was an improvement on Amber in my view. I thought
ep7 tracks were half-formed ideas that were realized on
Confield and Draft 7.30.

i think i can buy what nacmat's saying. if warp came along
and released 'come to rdj album' (rdj album and come to
daddy packaged together as one release [i.e. one jewel case,
one set of liners and artwork, etc]) we wouldn't think of it
as an album, really. is that the point of it?

That wouldn't make sense. There's no linearity or musical
similarity or timeline to those albums. That would be like
combining drukqs and the On EPs together, nice package but
musically illogical. The Tri Repetae ++ combo has those
concepts I just stated, so technically, it's an album with
relevant bonus material included.

i still disagree*. i don't think it matters how relevant the
material is to each other.

what if drukqs had been two different releases, one full of
the piano music and the rest on the other disc? most of us
would not probably think there was a whole lot of musical
similarity. my point is, that even on a particular release
the music may not be linear or related all that much.

*this is a respectful disagreement. i don't dislike you, and
i hope you don't dislike me. but just in case, let's hug.

It would've been described by critics as Richard's "concept"
album and called his comeback to top form...

;D

(And, yes, I respect your opinion, too. But let's just be
friends, OK?)

:P

Tri Repetae ++

so far, it's the only release I've ever liked from AE. And
it doesn't look to promising as their music is fast
deteriorating into random soundFX with each new release.
I couldn't care less how many complex mathematical schemes
and equations were used to create it, please show it off in
front of a math-class and go bore them to death with it
instead of polluting the airwaves with that kind of crap.

Last comment was for sadist, probably posted a few years ago
but i hadn't realised such a long thread being the dumb mofo
that I am. To the original question- its impossible to say,
depends what mood I'm in.
