jesus christ what is wrong with you people? Are you completely out of touch with the going ons of the world? England kicked the shit out of Australia in the rugby world cup final. Big history between the two countries, australia have been bad mouthing england all week and encouraging heckling and taunting, lots of anti-england behaviour, and we kicked the fucking shit out of them regardless. true, it was a good game, but we won. So fuck them all, they can eat their hats until they choke. Of course england take the piss out of everyone, its the english way. Cynical to the bone and proud. I admit though, when we shipped off all the convicts to australia, we should have perhaps reversed the process and sent ourselves over instead. Dumb english bastards.

eh? I'm perfectly happy mate :) I just objected to the typically british attitude to victory i.e. lots of racial critisism and saying things like 'we kicked their asses' despite a fairly small difference in score. sure all nations do it to a certain extent, but the English have made it their trademark (ugliness and fatness aside) oh and it ain't 'my country' as far as I'm concerned.
As a non-rugby fan it kept my attention and was a good game although it seemed Wilkinson was doing all the work but then again I'm no expert. Congrats indeed.

I'm not normally interested in rugby (probably coz we never win!) but I wanted us to win this, we had to! The aussie press was well OTT but I guess they were shook up, haha! plus our press is just as bad on countries like germany and argentina in footy.

The Aussie press conference afterwards was a sham... they didn't so much say anything in an unsporting manner, and the captain was quite a good sport, but the coach/manager (not sure which he was) was appalling. Such short responses, long silences, not looking at the camera. You could see he wanted to shout "WE SHOULD HAVE WON DAMMIT!"

The 2003 Kangaroos are the first touring side in 17 years to clean sweep Great Britain, after a dramatic 18-12 win in the third Ashes rugby league Test.

Fucking great game. So exciting! The aussies had at least 3 'heros' on their team.
We didn't kick their asses! both sides made stupid mistakes and at the same time, played amazing rugby.

but luckily i am back in europe, hooked on the soccer once again, a sport of skill, strength, passion, class......it has it all...

Great Up 'n' Under!
Don't know aussie names but that sliding foot tackle just before we nearly scored was amazing!
I think we gathered our mistakes well tho. It was out lineouts... you do have to throw long sometimes to keep the opp on their toes but that took the piss.
Glad they got Catty on near the end.. he drove some distance in some of those phases

I dunno.. there's something about being part of the rugby machine that makes it more satisfying than footy. One person out of place and it goes tits up...
It's a tremendous feeling when it all clicks into place.

Yeah I was working and a bunch of people who I'd barely even talked to and who'd come back from a pub lunch came into our room and started "AHH! YOU AUSTRALIANS ARE GOING DOWN!"
And I was like "Oh no not this again"
And then they won, and I copped a load of shit for being australian. I don't even know how to play rugby to be honest.
But around 2pm I'd gotten a bit tired of being called shit coz a pack of people who play a sport I don't even understand for the country I happen to live in so I pointed out that the english haven't won the soccer in 17 years and we kick their ass repeatedly at cricket - their two biggest sports (arguably?).
It was a mistake coz now I think they hate me.
