city street or the woods; and for recording noises i make
with my mouth and keyboard. i need some advice.

If you are talking about location recording, you need to
invest in a quality microphone and recording device.

yeah, i recommend a microcassette of higher quality (don't
get GE, those are SHITE) and although most come with
microphones, the mics that comes with them are usually crap
(hence why free) so i'd invest in a V-Tech - they've never
done me wrong.

oh yeah, and if you're doing field recordings, you'll want a
microphone that NOT uni-directional.

can pic up sounds in high definition? and is there a web
adress where i can learn more about this v-tech?

Have you ever heard Chris Watsons field recordings? He used
to be in Cabaret Voltaire. He made a CD of Field recordings
that uses amazing microphones etc recording allsorts of
animals in the wild... there's one of a Massive lion
sleeping and it sounds synthesized! you can hear the rhythm
of its 'snore', its ' breath' and 'mood' almost. I know it
sounds crap but it's a really good listen.
