Can you believe my (ex) friend Ben said that Autechre are better than the man himself, Aphex Twin? I mean, come on... Autechre have released about 17 records, yet only about three are decent. Every Aphex song is wicked, yet Autechre can't help sounding like they try just a bit too hard...I dunno. What's the deal? |

You reckon? Okay, so Autechre aren't that bad, but the fact of the matter is that Aphex's are so organic and beautiful - intentionally or otherwise. With Autechre, a lot of tunes they make seem to end up a bit...too...jumbled and sonically ugly... Don't you reckon the album "confields" is one ugly record? |

Hmmmm.... I like Autechre's "Chichlisuite" and "Tri-Reparte"...must just be me. But, I'll still beat Ben over the head with a rubber hose. Also, which album is better, I care because you do or RDJ album?...I personally prefer ICBYD... |

See, the reason I like ICBYD over RDJ is just the nice selection of tunes and the broad variety of them. I find, despite RDJ being a brilliant record, it gets stuck in TOO much jungle, you know. Sure there are the couple of songs such as "Milkman" and "To cure a weakling child" which stand out, but ICBYD is, to me, a more complete album. But, despite the above, both whip the synth out of Autechre...and there is a LOT of synth in that... |
