wow! I just realised I have a copy of benot mandelbrot's "les objets fractals" which has a little blurb from benot himself inside the cover. I should have had a look earlier, it was to my friends dad. Fractals are so cool man! :D

yeah, I love them too. have you tried 'video feedback'? when you connect your videocamera to the TV and film right into it? that shit is awesome.

The Doctor who intro was made that way- camera rigged to point at its own monitor. They flashed a light in to get an "artifact" then angling the camera about slowly made it go all weird and spectral.
If you like fractals do a google on Xaos. Also, read up on procedural textures, excellent "organic" possibilites that stem from similair principles as fractals, despite having very different results.
