hello folks, ive just got into this Live program, and am planning to DJ with it, all sorts of stuff like aphex+hellfish+ mike p + soundmurderer + general mashup tracks
ive read through the guides on how to DJ with the program, and it seems to make a lot of sense as u can essentially beatmatch songs easily and vary tempo on the fly etc
the only snag is having to setup 'warp markers', i.e. manually going through the track and marking nearly every beat. It is a simple process for tunes that have a basic 4/4 beat, but with IDMish mad stuff im finding its almost impossible!
does anyone use this program already for this kinda stuff? any tips? cheers

Only way that I've ever used Ableton to DJ with is by putting a pc running it with the audio out into the third channel of my mixer. I then tap the bpm in on Live, press play at an appropriate place and then sync the record (playing) to live, in much the same way you would a drum machine (hitting start on live at exactly the right time with 50ms latency = not easy :P) You can use premade loops of bass/percussion etc. this way.
When using vocal samples, you can use them independently of the beat.

yeah that latency is a bitch!!
its a good setup you got, but i was thinking of ONLY using live, i.e. loading the huge wav files of songs into Live and then mixing etc from there, as u can match tempo without altering pitch etc.... im pretty sure thats what aphex /bogdan et al do on their live gigs. At the nov11 gig, i could hear the bmp changing of some of the tracks without the pitch changing....
theres even a tutorial on the ableton website about how to DJ in live.... but its turning out to be a bit of a mission, as u have to set markers for every everythin.. ... :$
