them are terrible. de niro hasnt done anything good since
Heat.

and I didn't like this film at all, it was too realistic in
the way it was completely boring.

"one of the few good de niro movies"

:O

almost all of the man's first 50 performances were great.

i will give you that his post-heat era films have been shit
though. but that's still only about a 1/3 of his career.

I think it is a pretty dull film. It's not bad but it isn't
all that good either. De Niro's career has always been
based on hype more than ability though (in my opinion). I
don't think he has been really outstanding in anything I
have watched.

I'd probably agree with that. While there is a style to his
acting which I enjoy, I wouldn't call him a genius by any
means. He has a good presence... and that's about it. You
can literally see him sleepwalk through some parts. What
movies has he really gone outside of himself and
differentiated himself from the stereotypical De Niro act?
Rocky And Bullwinkle comes to mind... seriously though, I
thought he did a great, understated comedic turn in Jackie
Brown, but it wasn't any great stretch, that role. Heat is a
great film but he's nothing special in that either (aside
from the execution of Wayne Gro). Pacino is similarly
overrated, he's fun to watch but most of his films have him
in WHOO-HAH mode and it's more silly than anything. "She got
a, BIG ASS! An' you got yo head... ALL THE WAY UP IT!"
