I love it too. Though I feel bad for banning you just now,
Childrentalking. If you want back on the board, e-mail
Phobia and beg for forgiveness.

I didn't even enjoy that Own. Because any Depeche Mode fan
is a fan of mine...

...

But he was going to be banned eventually anyway, by one of
us. Might as well be me, one more notch on my ''Belt de
Oppression''.

maybe he was not a DM fan, and it was just a lie so he could
spam. think of it like that, it might ease the pain.

"celebrate the fact that we've seen the back of another
black day"

hardly a goth song

DM originally had a huge GOFF following..I was one of
them...post Clarke's departure...right upto the point of
Music for the Masses....Martin L. Gore fishnets and black
lipsticks were quite legendary and much emulated..

here are few of the ways all music describes their sound
Austere, Somber, Ominous, Gloomy, Theatrical, Detached,
Stylish, Angst-Ridden, Brooding, Bleak

they may have had a goth following, that never made them a
goth band.

they were pioneers of what evolved into the industrial
scene.

any self respecting goth (yeah, i know that sounds silly)
would not be seen dead admitting to being a depeche mode
fan.

awesome album, I just put it on the other day...

Now I can understand why my mother was slightly concerned
when I asked for that cd at 10 years old, I wasn't "GOFF", I
just liked the song on the radio :-)

while it may be true that they "aped" the industrial
scene..heckk I myself first became of the tem industrial
after I saw them do a pretty credible Industrial Lite
performance with Construction Time Again (yes I am that old)
and constantly name drop Einsturzende Neubauten....
but they were far from PIONEERs of the Industrial
Scene...Industrial Scene was fully functional, in perfect
order and entering it's second phase..(a more relenting,
somewhat accessible phase as opposed to brutal noise and
terror for the sake of Noise Terror of the Early Throbbing
Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire)....
Hence DM are not Industrial Pioneers...even Front 242
predate them in the EBM front...

But DM were heck of a dabbling bunch...full credit to
them...But I am talking of real old time GOFFS...they were
DM fans and had no problem admitting to it....The Smiths
were another GOFF favourite though it might seem improbable
now....Original GOFF was more about Melancholy and
Poetry..swilling red wine while reading Baudillaire and
Rimbaud in graveyards drapped over head stones...

This whole new GOFF thing...Satanism and Fetish and all of
that nonsense were all Heavy Metal concerns then...Black
Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne fans..any self respecting (heh)
GOFF wont touch them with a Barge Pole..

Even Vampirism was a late addition...Bela Lugosi is Dead and
The Hunger...was lamented by many of the original
GOFFS...and scorned and downright rejected by even more....

The whole Violator album is fucking brilliant. World in my
eyes, Halo, Policy of truth and last and greatest, Personal
Jesus.

"take second best, put me to the test
things on your chest, you need to confess.."

I gotta go put this on :)

Possibly my favourite song from Violator, though the last
minute or so spoils it slightly for me.
