i love tom waits, and recommend you check into 'alice' as
well. also, 'the black rider' and 'bone machine' are
excellent tom waits albums.

He's a genious! I've got all his CDs! Another great song by
him is "In the morning i'll be gone" (or dead or something..
i've never been good at names.. it may even be the song is
not called that, but he sings it a lot in it...).

A guy like Tom Waits just never loses his hip factor, never
ceases to be cool.

Small Change + Swordfishtrombones > Blood Money

tom waits is one of my favourite musicians. all his music is
fantastic in my opinion. i highly recommend Small Change,
Rain Dogs and Mule Variations.

His father listened to Frank Sinatra and mariachi music, and
Waits himself would listen to three radio stations at once
(on multiple radios). He always loved Louis Armstrong, and
often compared him to "a potato from the ground; he was that
earthy." So he had Sinatra's voice doctor work on his
throat, and he screamed into a pillow routinely for several
years on end to make his voice as it is today.

Now THAT's dedication.

inconsistent though.

I love the atmosphere and prodution on Blood Money, the
instruments and arrangements. But that goes for just about
everything he's done, so bah.
