I'm gonna recommend a book. Read All the Pretty Horses, or if you're into the ultra violence Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, the greatest living american author.

everyone should have to read war and peace, if just for the bit at the end, the bit explaining how it was the people not Napolean who almost conquered europe, how YOU COULDN'T HAVE MOVED YOUR HAND RIGHT IF YOU WENT LEFT

"The Occult" by Colin Wilson is very much worth a read -- It has an excellent bibliography.
"Essays in Zen Buddhism" by D T Suzuki is very interesting, also.
