I was kinda disappointed by this release. I like Rest proof,
and some of the Black Dog stuff, but there is something not
right about Not for Threes.

This is probably one of my all-time favourite idm releases,
and it was also the first ever idm album I bought, back in
98. I remember lying in the grass, baking my noodle in the
sun, with my headset in Birkelunden (a park in Oslo), and I
was so amazed that this kind of music existed; I had no
idea.

I love this album.

not for threes is the best plaid release imo, but then
again, I'm very attached to this release. High sentimental
value.

Hmmm...Maybe it is too soft? I don't know. But sentimental
value is important, yes. I think I had a similar experience
when I started listening to Autechre-Amber. I just walked
around in the city with my headphones, and was
like....WOW!!!

yeah, that's exactly how it was for me with not for threes.
I'll admit, it is a rather "soft" release, but some of the
moods on this album are simply spectacular, and the general
sound is very pure and clinical. Strangely, it reminds me of
stainless steel surfaces, hehe :)

rakimou?

and i should also say that i think lilith is one of the best
things bjork has worked on EVER.

this is my favourite Plaid too. : )

not that much for Rakimou though... my favourite ones as far
as i can remember are Extork and Ladyburst and Spudink and
oh well i like them all in fact Rakimou included as well as
all the ones yes very good.

Think it's great. Not quite as good as DF but better than
RPC. I was chuffed when I found that there DOES exist a
longer version of Seph :D

2nd favorite Plaid to Double Figure, like it a lot more than
Restproof. I like their ''clean'' sound. It shparkles.

The whole bloody album is amazing.

I think some IDM lovers might shun it a bit for its use of
vocals from some pretty popular artists.

It is also very diverse in its sound, if I didn't know any
better I'd say it was a compilation.

Yes...I love this album from beginning to end. Not one dull
moment...Plaid simply put are amazing. Ed and Andy are
easily the best electronic musicians IMO. I'll say more
later.

I can't figure out why some people slam Plaid as much as
they do. Considering that most of us like BOC, Autechre and
Aphex Twin, it seems like a natural fit.

Even after listening to the brilliant thick sound of spokes,
this album still has a great feel to it. Rock on.

Weird you should say it reminds you of stainless steel
surface and clinicalness and whatnot - it's hospital
terminology.

Not for threes = 333 crossed out, which means DNR (do not
resuscitate) on hospital paperwork

It's pretty sweet indeed. I enjoy it's light-hearted
nature. (with the exception of a few tracks). Extork still
scares the shit out of me some times.
