hello fellow xltronical peoples.

I froze up my computer a bit ago and i held down the power
button to force shutdown. I have down this before.

I noticed that i lost my favorites. Everything in the
browser is in dayone style.

Can this be fixed or am i fucked forever?

what do you use? XP or something older?

did you start up and then shut down and restart again?
always do that when manually shutting down.

well, you should've done that immediately. you switch off
the comp, cursing loudly, then switch it on again, most
probably still cursing. let it start up completely and then
just restart - windows just likes to be shut down well, even
if it's a bit late.

I dislike winxp. I use win2k.
I have tweaked it a bit,
and it never crashes now.
works fine. for me.

the experience I've had with xp (at friends houses) is that
it messes around. Things take longer time (e.g. open up a
menu, list files in a folder, etc) than on my win2k, and he
has more mhz and RAM than me.

so turn off the themes and other bullshit; winxp > win2k
stability; later kernel, later applications.

win2k is not better. winxp's just the same shit with stupid
icing on the top, which you can disable.

and it sounds like to me windows was accessing that folder
while you turned it off, and chkdsk/scandisk went OH, WTF,
LETS DELETE THE FOLDER

so retarded. i loathe windows 2000/XP's chkdsk/scandisk.
it just deletes everything.
