ok if this so bad and so little innovative... tell me why
tell me who makes really innovative noise music so that I
can listen to it.

and tell me, if this remix better or worse than the
original?

my fav here is ktpa1... it really makes me have 7 minutes of
relaxing trippy sounds

As for the first track i must say that i do like it. I think
Richard did a good job here. Nothing over the top about it
but i would consider it above average.

I like how near the end it starts turning into noise leading
into the next two tracks KTPA1 KTPA2.

As for the noise tracks i think they are average.
Considering i like merzbow. So either you like these tracks
or you dont. That is what will make or break this EP.

Overall i'd give it a 3.7/5.0

Has anyone tried to run it through a spectrograph software
to see if there are scans of pictures (like track 2 off
windowlicker). I guess lots of noise would just look like a
haze right?

I love Run the Place Red, it's 'ardcore. But, no, I don't
like noise music at all, except for a few interspersed
bursts here and there. Some cool noises, but that's it...
which makes sense.

the noise on smoj is just horizontal lines (the beeping
balloon noises) and .. well noise

like when your tv is malfunctioning

about smojphace : dont like it. the remix is way over the
top, drukqs and mangle11 are cool but i just dont dig that
2902395 bpm drummachine kebab shit

the best thing about smojphace is the name.. ever tried
yelling it in the street?

''the best thing about smojphace is the name.. ever tried
yelling it in the street?''

Yeah, I've been doing it for years. Richard stole my
schtick.

it's taken me a year, but i've finally heard this ep.

i really like it. especially the second and third tracks.
i like noise music in general, and while i don't think this
is particularly mindblowing noise, i don't think it sucks
either.

as far as noise music goes, these are pretty listenable.
not very harsh, sort of balloon-squeaky as jaroen describes.
easy-listening noise...

ktpa1 and ktpa2 aren't meant to be heavy or overbearing,
they're in their own little world. so while i can see
purists not digging this sound, i wouldn't write it off the
way many have. subjectively speaking, i find these tracks
asthetically pleasing, though not necessarily overly
challenging or emotional.

overall, this ep is much more accessible than i had thought
it would be. i think it's a quality ep by afx and i will
listen to it more than a few times.

Prurient
Excepter
Hecker
Julien Ottavi
the Boredoms
Les Rallizes Denudes
Markus Schmickler
Fennesz
Pita
Rehberg and Bauer
Z'ev
Voice Crack
Keith Rowe
Gunter Muller
Oren Ambarchi

I see Fennesz on there. Would, then, you also count Tim
Hecker as noise?

if tracks like this were on 26 remixes than that release
would be okay, but i still wouldnt buy it

honestly, i don't know where to draw the line between
ambient and noise, i'm tempted to say they are the same
thing... there is certainly plenty of Tim Hecker that could
be comfortably be placed within the noise realm... but when
i said Fennesz i was mostly referring to some of his
collaborative work with the likes of Keith Rowe, and Werner
Dafeldecker... and also some of his earlier solo stuff like
Hotel Paral.el (or wherever the period goes in there...),
and not so much later stuff which bears large similarities
to Tim's work...

Hotel Parel.el i would consider to be "noise music" or
something, yeh. But it's a really blurry genre. Tim
hecker is another borderline thingy. To be honest i don't
give a furry fuck as long as it sounds good.

Oh yeah, anyone read the wire article on wolf eyes this
month? I've never heard anything by them, but i'm
reeeeeally intrigued. They sound great.

they are great... try to check out Dread or Dead Hills, or
even the new one i suppose...

i don't think that issue of the Wire is quite available here
yet...

They're on the cover this issue. It's quite funny, most of
the cover artists for the wire are very clued-up about their
"conceptual goalzzz" or whatever, but wolf eyes sound like a
couple of work-with-anyone stoners who had a lot of fun for
a lot of years and suddenly got signed to sub pop, verrry
laid-back.

Interestink Fakt: someone from black dice punched one of the
wolf eyes dudes' friends in the balls. They hated each other
for a while until they made an album together.

two albums in fact... this has lead to a fair amount of
confusion... i still don't know which one i have...

I think it's a pretty standard state to be confused about
their output... apparently there are a whole shitload of
self-pressed vinyl and cassette albums hanging around in
hideously limited quantities. God help us if they ever get
as popular as BoC. I think the interweb would implode.

yeah, i actually know a lot of people who buy their
cassettes and such... please just try to ignore the fact
that the sky is falling inwards... it's probably better that
way...

It's one of the worst releases I've ever heard. Richard shat
on a record and put it out, proving people would buy
anything he's involved in. I cannot believe some people have
convinced themselves they like this crap.

The name is tight though. Smojphace.

i don't care for the remix much. as far as the other two
tracks are concerned, i'm squarely in the camp that believes
that if you enjoy them, there's no reason why you wouldn't
enjoy a recording of virtually any decontextualized
non-specific sound or noise with a reasonable degree of
tonal/volume contrast that had the afx brand name affixed to
it.
