it's a very fine release... : )

you could go without it, but you're missing a lot of gems!

· Seefeel, Time To Find Me, AFX Fast Mix
· Gentle People, Journey, Aphex Twin Care Mix
· Saint Etienne, Your Head My Voice, Voix Revirement
· Nobukazu Takemura, Let My Fish Loose, Aphex Twin Remix
· Die Fantastichen Vier, Krieger, Aphex Twin Baldhu Mix
· Philip Boa & The Voodoo Club, Deep In Velvet, Aphex Twin
Turnips Mix
· Curve, Falling Free, Aphex Twin Remix
· Mescalinum United, We Have Arrived, Aphex Twin QQT Mix
(<- love it or hate it... ^^ - well, it was on Classics
anyway if i remember)
· Nine Inch Nails, At The Heart Of It All, Created By Aphex
Twin
· Remix By AFX (but well, this one was on 2 Remixes By AFX
already. it's a remix of 'Flow Coma' by 808 State btw, or so
i've heard.)
· DMX Krew, You Can't Hide Your Love, Hidden Love Mix

those are my favourites...
also, it's interesting to hear the original version of
[radiator] on SAWII, with the original beats...

I really don't like it. I dunno why, just can't listen to
it. Imo Parts In The Post is FAR better.

it's convenient having the remixes in one place. the cd as
a whole is alright, but i rarely listen to it all in one go.
i put it on when i want to hear a particular track.

anus, if i only had enough squid for a couple of new albums,
this wouldn't be one of the ones i'd buy.

Have you heard Saint Etienne - Who Do You Think You Are
(Aphex Twin Quex-rd)
? That's my favourite remix by him
and it's not on the CD :-/

I always say it would be great to have an ep called 8 mixes
for more cash including all the left outs mixes of this
compilation

it could come as a limited edition with the first preorders
of his new album (maybe talking about a new album makes it
happen)

my favorites:
- gavin bryars - raising the titanic (big drum mix)
- gentle people - journey (aphex twin care mix)
- david bowie & philip glass - heroes (aphex twin remix)
- jesus jones - zeros and ones (aphex twin reconstruction
mix 2)
- curve - falling free (aphex twin remix)
- afx - remix
- mike flowers pops - debase (soft palate)

Die Fantastischen Vier - Krieger (Aphex Twin Baldhu Mix) is
an awful song. It reminds me of rammstein and i really don't
like rammstein.

these are the ones that are missing:

2. Seefeel - Time To Find Me (AFX Slow Mix)
3. Saint Etienne - Who Do You Think You Are (Aphex Twin
Quex-rd)
4. Jesus Jones - Zeroes & Ones (Aphex Twin Reconstruction
Mix 1)
5. Gavin Bryars - Raising The Titanic (Big Drum Edit)
6. Beck - Devils Haircut (Richard's Hairpiece)

i'm only hearing this now... and i have to say, as refund
mentions (though disagrees about) above, the first disc (in
particular) flows very well... as good as any of his proper
albums... if you just think of it as afx music and nothing
more... it's just a gorgeous set of tracks from what sounds
like middle period afx (between ICBYD and RDJ)... i really
like the seefeel rmx, the phillip glass rmx, the nin
recreation and the takemura rmx... but really the first disc
is all quite nice... haven't had much time with the second
disk yet, though...

the gavin bryars mix is one of the best and most beautiful
tracks on the album. and i love the nav katzes ones too,
verry verrrrry nice

not the biggest fan of disc 2, however. i should dig it out
and listen again.

It should be pointed out, since this is the thread linked to
the discog, that several of these tracks are much edited
from the remixes as they appear on their original sources.
Also, at least one of them (the Philip Glass - Heroes -
remix) seem to have been sourced from mp3, not the original.
And there's some dodgy quality moments in others.

On the whole it's a pretty shoddily produced affair. Seems
like it was done in a rush, which may have been the case
since I believe that another label was already planning on
releasing an Aphex remix set and Warp stepped in to do it
first.

So with dodgy quality, poorly sourced audio, edited tracks
and missing remixes it's not a great compilation, but that
said, there are some great tracks on it.

At The Heart Of It All is definitely cut short

original (found on NIN - Further Down The Spiral:
7 mins 14 secs

version on 26 Mixes For Cash:
3 mins 49 secs

When I first got this I thought it was a quickly-thrown
together piece of amalgamated garbage, but a week ago my
playlist hit some tracks while on random (don't worry, I
don't always listen like that) and I found quite a few I
like a lot. It's funny how many people think 'autechre'
when others say 'aphex', but aphex is such a god damned
great relax after listening to lots of autechre..

I like quite a few of the tracks. I would have liked 'time
to find me' and 'journey' but I had already heard them both
loads, so I was bored with them. My favs are:

* Raising the Titanic
* Krieger
* Deep in Velvet
* Falling Tree
* Flow Coma
* Normal
* Debase

'Windowlicker [Acid Edit]' is pathetic (not very acid-like)
and I was very dissapointed by it!!! I way prefer the
Rod!mus mix. The rest of the tracks are good but some are
shitty and annoying, especially, 'we have arrived', 'heroes'
and 'you can't hide your love'.

Mainly a good selection. All in all I give it a 3/5

i doubt that that radiator mix is the "original". richie's
just trying to fuck with our heads again. i don't think it
had beats originally,....he just mixed it up with them after
that and said, "Oh, I bet these nasty buggers would feel 8%
more rectified if I brandish the mix [original]." :)

actually from what ive heard, it was originally written for
a movie soundtrack or something and then he threw that track
into saw2 minus the beats afterwards.

26 mixes has a lot of edits on it. Since some kind people
have managed to dig up the originals I've heard almost all
of them. The bowie remix on 26 mixes is almost defineataly
from an mp3. There is a nice glitch in it not in the
original. That and some of the best remixes are missing.
Edits that I know of:

Kinesthesia - Triachus (26m=4:12, og=5:21)
Philip Glass - Heroes (26m=5:18, og=5:33)
Nav Katze - Ziggy (26m=4:25, og=6:02)
Saint Etienne - Your Head My Voice (26m=3:15, og=4:12)
Nine Inch Nails - At The Heart of it All (26m=3:49,
og=7:09)
Meat Beat Manifesto - Mindstream (26m=3:42, og=6:56)

Perhaps I missed a few, but those I can confirm.

i would start with at the heart of it all, its worth getting
the extra bit, it makes the song 100 times better, i dont
know what they (he) was thinking when they put that 3 minute
edited version on there? it totally takes all of the guts
out of that track.
it was said earlier, parts in post is better, but 26 mixes
is a very good comp.

out of curiosity i tried to download all the originals but
im still missing a few. Though, from what i heard, even
though some of the originals are almost identical i love the
album even more.
