i liked what i heard...expecting my copy to arrive any day
now

but he should really release some dancefloor oriented stuff
in the future - it wont spoil his name or anything as it is
great music

i'm loving it. there are only 2 things that dissapopint.
1.) the cover is awful. and i really mean that!
2.) too many silly bleeping noises that get me frantically
checking my household appliances for errors.....

Sounds very similar to lipswitch at first listening and very
different after. The guy is creating his unique signature -
the ambient track (#4) is very good. I'm giving 5 stars
*****

hey ivo! spending 'down-time' here?
this album sounds amazingly crispy (-> crispy sounds).
tracks 1, 4 and 5 are my favorites. have i already mentioned
that it sounds really crispy?

''this album sounds amazingly crispy''

I know what you mean. I love his sounds and production
values. And he can drop a mean mechanical beat in there when
he wants to. After a couple weeks to get into is, I guess
this is probably his best yet.

I'm loving it too....well put...

A nice mix between the more freeform styles of Alecmapper &
the rhythms of Lipswitch...

Crispness-wise, it was a 24bit 96 recording so I guess
that's shown up in the CD...it certainly has a sense of
space & movement within that space that only AE really
match...

Agreed on the cover art tho...bit dissapointing; but hell,
just close your eyes and the visuals come thick & fast...

(RD can do no wrong for me at moment I must comfess...like
myself, he's a big fan of Francis Bacon & John Maeda (an odd
couple).....)...

All I want now is a 5.1 DVD, long promised....

when it was originally supposed to be released (over
18months ago) it was gonna be a six track ep bridging the
gap between lipswitch & aleamapper, that would explain the
sounds.

i'm still really angry about the cover tho!!!!

i'm surprised at how much of a regular thumping groove it
has, considering the methodology Devine employed for the
purpose of creating his latest release - pretty well most of
the material is achieved through various randomly-generated
processes brought about through a multitude of sofware
applications he has designed himself. reading an interview
with him on the making of it, i was expecting something far
more chaotic and random, in the vein of Autechre's 'gantz
graf', for example, but it actually turns out to be quite an
even sounding, rather groove-oriented release after all.

read the interview here:

From the pic I see at warpmart the cover doesn't look too
bad Ivo. What is it that you hate about it?

the whole thing looks tacky, and the fonts used are
virtually unreadable. bring back mitDR

SO agreed on the fonts...I was SHOCKED; almost
Hippiesque...

A real surpise after the Maeda inspired LipSwitch....

But fuck, the music is the important thing...

i know what you mean, i was also expecting a more chaotic
and random sound in this album. but im not disappointed at
all with the outcome though, i only feared it would be an
aleamapper part 2...

I don't think his music is as unconventional as Autechre.
But it is a lot more "busy" sounding. I really dig
Asect:Dsect a lot.

The artwork is a rip-off of AE's chastic slide. As for the
music, well, he does throw a lot of information at a person
and the production quality is as clean as it gets but it's
all undercut by a lack of progression within the tracks. The
relationships between the sounds are static. I actually
enjoyed Aleamapper more than this.

i saw him live last week, awesome show, but it was a pity
that he did atmosphere stuff, which i like but i would have
loved it more if he did a more danceable set.

after his gig i had a nice chat with him, he must be the
nicest man in IDM.

im going to send some pictures to the xlt gallery soon.
