i really love confield, and when draft came out this year i
was expecting something dark moreso than
confield...listening to parhelic then bine alone at night
really loud is quite scary stuff (imo)..tho that atmosphere
wasnt really generated in draft in my opinion...ne thoughts?
what did u make of draft in the light of confield?

Confield kind of has that overall 'feel'.

I haven't really pinned down a Draft 'feel' though...

parlethic triangle alone is enough for me.
although track 6 of draft (the name escapes me) is great
too.

Two great albums but Confield is better IMO.Mainly because I
think Confield is more groundbreaking than Draft..

i agree, its strangly stale <--(for want of a better word)
but diverse, but not much in the way of emotion...reniform
puls tho i think is a superb finish for it

yes but listening to surripere at any volume is absolutely
amazing.

that song puts me in a trance everytime i listen to it - I
think it's my favourite song in the world but i don't
know....

BUT THE ONE THING i really like about draft is how smooth
the first 5 songs go together.. it feels like they really
planned the ordering of the tracks and the transitions are
beautiful IMO.

confield is good too. cough

I still haven't gotten into Draft yet. I dunno, all tracks
but maybe IV VV IV VV VIII seem to lack something. Perhaps
I'm yet to discover that...

refering to draft in previous post...confield totally
changed my perception of music..id never heard nething that
dark and perfectly formed in my life...groundbreaking stuff

That's so weird, Parhelic Triangle is probably my favourite
track (of all the tracks from each album). And Theme From
Sudden Roundabout (track 6 on Draft) is my favourite from
the album!

esquestuff i never really expected that and a few others
like v-proc superp at loud volume..great stuff

im listening to confield now...its simply superior to 90% of
my whole cd collection...2001 was a good year for music
thinking about it..with confield, drukqs, and go plastic

Confield. Not only does it have that beautiful dark, alien
mood, but it's actually interesting in places. Draft has too
many passages where it's just beat mangling and nothing else
for five minutes.

Confield wins, it was a watershed album for me personally,
and Draft wasn't nearly as surprising. I liked the 'Field
melodies more, as well. Draft has, like Purlieu said, too
much ''beat mangling''.

only the short 3 minute version so far, but cd should be
here any day now :)

very much alike drill tunes on drukqs - pure quality

excellent...i cant wait for that to come out..(st michels
mt..OMG BRILLIENT)....confield being musically less dense
gives it a better atmospheric qualtiy imo...draft, i agree
is a large amount of beat mangling...tho that isnt all bad i
dont think....okies time for bed...c u guys later :o)

With Draft 7.30, my favorite parts being the first minute or
two of Xylin Room, all of 6ie.cr, surripere (i love this
song), last two minutes of "theme of sudden roundabout",
from 1:02-onward of vl al 5, all of p.:ntil,

i think confield is better on the whole,
although i believe draft holds more emotion for me at
times.....

Draft feels more imrprovised and funky. It also feels like
it'sn them showing off more with how much they can fuck up
beats, while Confield seems more concerned with atmosphere,
holding together as a whole, and structure. I also prefer
Confield's "melodic" and harmonic content.
Draft has some nice weird mutations within tracks though.

I never really looked at it from that point of view before.

I agree. Confield def has an atmosphere about it more so
than draft.

Both are great albums might i add!

They are both great, but I prefer the more - as CS2x points
out - funky Draft 7.30.

One immediate difference between these two albums - and I
read this in an interview with autechre - is that they used
generative sound tools extensively in making of Confield,
while Draft 7.30 is programmed down to every single dot. So
I guess Draft IS more 'human'... :)

Confield is real cool... and is my favorite of the two...
but hey, I put on Draft 7.30 the other day, and listened to
it all, and it's pretty cool...

confield has a few good tracks but draft7.30 is catchyer and
more accessible, gotta love that drum solo in the middle of
track 3...

what tracks are on this new rephlex release then?

to me:

confield's more innovative, a big step from their previous
release

draft's a more enjoyable listen, though it is less
innovative from their previous release (being confield, if
you disregard gantz graf).

draft 9.0
confiel 8.4

To me, Confield seems less precise than Draft. It seems like
Confield conveyed new ideas but Draft refined those ideas.
So Draft is better thinks i

to listen to all three in order: confield, gantz graf &
