getting someone into IDM

My friend wants me to burn him a mix of "that electronic
stuff" i listen to. He's into metal and hardcore,
Agoraphobic Nosebleed and such.

What should I put on this? Come to Daddy and some tracks
from "Making Orange Things" are a must. But as for the
rest.. I don't know.

perhaps some doormouse, a few of RDJ's caustic
window/classics tracks, and these tracks by venetian
snares:

we are oceans
hand throw
find candace

jeezus, that's a tough call.

can't fuck this up, or he'll be dissaspointed that your
music isn't as cool as his.

I say a little BOC, some []pusher, and a healthy dose of the
RDJ album should do ok.

afx - fantasia
astrobotnia - everyone
squarepusher - anstromn-feck 4

Ove-Naxx - Miburounin

Try this that's some breakcore/metal cross-over. Very
aggressive / vsnares produces disney music compared to this.

what ever you do, make sure you include:

venetian snares - all the children are dead (album - doll
doll doll)
Hrvatski - Insect Digestion Melancholy (album - Insect
Digestion Melancholy)

Don't make a mix...burn him a couple of albums. A VSnares
one, an Aphex one and an Autechre one. Trying to pick
tracks to suit your perception of someones taste never works
out right.

i'd burn him the Ventolin EP too (original not remixes) -
most friends of mine into rock music dig it.

Burn him a copy of Big Loada too. That's pretty fast and
hard, and catchy.

The standard big names, lots of RDJ Album/Come to Daddy
tracks, some BOC, MAYBE a couple of Autechre tracks like
Rae... I dunno... I have a tracklist in my head I'd burn for
someone. Can't wait to see your list.

Show him the vids for come top daddy and windowlicker

Music vids are the way to introduce imo cause they pay allot
of attention to the vids (cause IDM vids rock!) the music
kinda get's subconsciously drilled into them ;o)

crafty works !

There's no point in trying to convert someone into IDM if he
constantly requires distorted guitar wannabe tracks. You
gotta like it naturally. Give him Amber and Drukqs.

you should burn them a copy of my mix once it's uploaded
(probably will happen today)

It's always best when people ask, "What's this music? This
is wicked..." and you then burn them a cd-r and they get
into it that way. I'm currently doing a mix of trip hop and
idm for someone who I gave a lift to and was amazed by a
tape I had in the car.
