I need a new job, one that pays better, and there are various training courses in this field. I think some people on here do this... Is it good work? Does it suck? Have I got a chance of employment once trained? If i'm not a techy person will I get sick of it after 13 weeks (!) of training? Any ideas / views from those doing it already would be appreciated!

haha i'd laugh if this is one of those 'Want A Career In IT?' Take our 13 week course and we can guarantee you a job at the end of it, just pay us 3 grand to cover the cost of training ... hahaha.
seriously, IT support is just an office job but with more coffee and lots of idiots going 'umm John, it says warning, printer not working, press OK ... what should i press?'

no it's a free course, you don't pay, but you are on some kind of work placement during that time...
jobs such as: Help-Desk/Technical Support Analyst PC/Network Support
not what i'd usually consider but the money can be quite good, plus being able to fix PCs is surely useful

i did it for like, 2 weeks. It sucked, but then i hate office jobs. Its a lot better than most office jobs i guess, but the pay is pretty shite, its like, 14-16k usually. 13 weeks training is a bit ridiculous, but then, if its free, you may as well. What job are you doing now?

I do graphics / web design, freelance, great when I get work (get up late, do it from home etc) but totally unreliable as so many people do it now, and work is hard to come by. When I can't get enough work I do hours in an offie, which really sucks, apart from the fact we drink at work, which is a bit bad really ;)

i used to do that too, until i realised it offers no security whatsoever, or finances. Do it as a spare time job rather than a full time one. And youre right, everyone does it, fortunately 98% of people suck ass at it

You should try running a class for beginners or something.
I work in a call center for a broadband isp doing over the phone tech support. The people I speak to hallf the time don;t even know what window's they're running

depends where you are at.
if you are just starting, man, good luck, it is oging to be a lot to take in
if you've been doing it since age 5,well it's much easier.
i haven't had ne problems, and on our side the next oldest person is about 28 or29 and im 20. so i hold my own.
in a large enterprise it's great, but like i siad depends where you are (what dept.)

I think I might have the wrong kind of brain for serious IT stuff... I'm not a natural, but then its about motivation, if I wanted it enough i'm sure I could get my head round it all
ah shite, why can't I just be a rich music producer or pro skater or something!?
