the remix was THE summer hit!!!
the ragga/jamaica feel really added to the summer feeling ;)

i loved the noise.
i thought the remix was almost
darkly comical.

i liked all three tracks.

the remix really loud and the noise tracks really quiet.

noise doesn't have to be noisy, you know.

i like smojphace a lot, the first remix track is amazing,
its still a hard one to put down, t he noise tracks are a
good wake me upper tracks somedays

when you lisetn to the ktpa1 & ktpa2 the noise drills in
your brain, and lets you know that you are alive and have
your own thoughts

hehe...

my opinion hasn't changed since I bought it, well apart from
that I now prefer KPTA1 over 2 now :)

surely, but this seems kinda awkward, everybody hated it
when it came out.. i think its like; either you love it or
hate it.. i like the remix, im not much for the noise, im
having a hard time to get into it. although some merzbow
tracks are alright.

probably after smojphace if we made another poll now,
"something completely different release" would take 5%,
isn't it?

ok, well, this looks like a better place for me to ask this
question than this was

---------------------------------------
granted i've only heard smojphace one time, it was on my
stock dell speakers at work, and it was on low volume, but
serriously i can't understand how some of you guys are
saying that you really like the noise tracks.

i'm honestly not trying to be a jerk here. i'd just like to
understand what you can 'enjoy' about listening to them.

i've heard noise tracks before, and while i didn't like
most
of them i could see how someone might. but, with those two
tracks i find it a stretch even considering them music.
they sound very similar to what it sounded like when i used
to put our old TRS80 data cassettes into a stereo.

i think maybe aphex was making a statement about
the whole noise genre, or maybe it was a kind of 'fuck you'
to his fans... a sort of trolling his fanbase or something.

i don't think i've ever heard an aphex track that i
actually
didn't like... he's got stuff that i don't particularly
enjoy, but i wouldn't go so far as to say i 'disliked'
it...
except for those two tracks.

can a fan of kpt1 & 2 calmly and rationally explain what it
is about them that you like? i mean, if some new artist
released an album of 8 tracks like that would you go to the
store and buy them and acually listen to it in your car? if
so, what about it appeals to you?
--------------------------------------------

I just heard them and laughed my head off, specially after
hearing the a side, I didn't take it as a personal insult or
something, just kind of funny totally extreme form of
"music", good mixing tool as well.

I'm all for noise tracks, I thought these noise tracks
sucked. Compared to good noise music Smoj was shit. I hope
Richard gives it another shot, but make it crazier

offline epohs from )C: on 2003-11-04 16:24 [#00934472]

i've looked around a bit in the archives, and i see nacmat,
and recycle, and maybe a few others defending the two noise
tracks consistently, but rarely do i find an actual
description of why you guys like the tracks. maybe i'm just
not looking at the right threads.

could someone either point me in the direction of a thread
where someone talks about the different aspects of tracks 2
& 3 and why they like them, or offer up your thought
directly in this thread?

you can reffer to my post above for a more detailed
request.

until then, i have to assume that the main reason people are
interested in those two tracks is because they were released
by someone whom they respect.

1 the bug remix

its funny, just ok for me, but its not bad.
the end is the best part (with the white noise) good way to
intro the rest of the ep

2 kpta1

the best of the ep imo
why?
well I am not a music maker and I know nothing about music
structures/rules so I cant have consistent reasons apart
from:
I like how it sounds.
its true its noise, but somehow it makes me feel I am being
carried in a travel through noise... with a begining and an
end. its not annoying at all, on contrary it chills me...
kind of hipnothyses me... it has some great moments (great
just cos I like how it sounds)

3 kpta2

apart from being shorter (so it doesnt develope as much as
the other (no travelling sensation) it is also not as
sweet... here the sound is not so chilling for me, but still
is nice... like a good apendice

very good. thank you for your response.

so, just out of curriosity; if an unknown artist
released an entire album that was similar to kpta1, would
you buy it?

those noise tracks are actually about 200 unreleased aphex
tracks, idiots. burnt them and slow them down to .08
percent and enjoy.

theres not one release out there that i cant say i hate,
whether it's released by superstarts or not, its still an
enjoyment to listen to what ever people create ..... i
personally like smojphace. but remember in the olden days
when rich would use digeridoo to clear the dance floor so he
could packup and go home......i rekon it's the same with the
ktpa's....not many people like noise, this can be seen in
some of the footage from aphex's sets...he uses noise to
clear the dance floor, and you cant to with your very own
smojphace 12" :D

^ edit:

and you "can" to with your very own
smojphace 12" :D
