Orange Dust - Surgical Cuts

Chekkit, it's the track that I've been looking for for ages,
I always thought heaps of IDM hiphop heads would have done
this kind of thing but I couldn't find any tracks liek this
that anyone else'd done so I said "Fuck that" and tried to
make one myself.

It's basically just a drum n bass style bassline at hiphop
speed with cutup and scratched hiphop drums with loads fo
scratch samples over it.

do you think record companies would release music if they
knew it was made using fruity loops?

how do floops feel about people releasing music made with
their sounds or program? are the floops samples copyrighted
?

sorry for being a bitoftopic od...still d/ling

Did you do the sample scratching with the wave traveller in
floops 4? That's suprisingly good, especially when used with
the volume parameter on it to emulate a crossfader.

Music tech aside, this is a good track and pretty original
too (I recognised the "if you see a sucker..." sample ;)

samples:

(forgive me: this is copy+paste from watmm)
Oh and yeah that "If you see a sucka, cut 'em - don't like
perpetrators" rap by Kool Keith (?) was nabbed from the
track on One Word Extinguisher.
Other samples include the "We have the ultimate weapon of
control" sample by the cobra commander but I would have
given points to anyone who said starscream coz it's the same
voice actor after all...

Also uhh some of the fly samples from joe cartoon, one from
unicron from the transformers movie talking about crushing
cybertron, some samples from fear n loathing in las vegas
(as always) and a bunch of samples from mario 2 and megaman
2.
I think that's most of them, there are still a shitload of
other random samples.

very interesting, haven't used the wave traveller much yet..
it's not that easy... are there any quantization options
especially for the wt ?

offline od_step_cloak from Pleth (Australia) on 2003-11-03 01:10 [#00931118]

Quantization? It's a graph, dude!
I just drew all the shit in manually.
It's not too hard when you get used to it.

...there are quantization options in fruity itself, which I
never use coz I program shit rather than do anything live. I
rarely even use the record tweak thing - even then I mostly
do graphs.

it's always that way, just do it. i know the quant options,
but i never used them really. but sometimes use to record
live tweaks, mostly for filter modulations, it's easy when
you turn down the tempo.

offline od_step_cloak from Pleth (Australia) on 2003-11-03 01:55 [#00931169]
Points: 3803 Status: Regular

Yeah most of my tweaks are either straight line graduations
(ie cutoff going from 0% to 100% over 8 barsd etc etc) or
sudden changes so the graphs method suits me a lot easier.

AronZ claimed he (and some of his mates?) were gonna rap
over this tune I did a while ago .... man I'm such a pro I
can't even remember the name of my own fucking song.

Oh yeah it was called different sneakers.

But he never did.
COME ON MISTER ZACHARIAS, REPREZEN'!

I'd love peple to rap over my tracks.
I was gonna start thinking about hassling Sinicalypical cunt
on WATMM to do some, but never got around to asking him and
stuff happened blah blah and nothing is happening.

someone rap over my tracks!
