I still love it but I can't feel it like I could when I first started hearing it years back. I still believe its his best record but its gutting listening to it and although I enjoy it its not like it was in the past. It kinda feels almost like you've lost something and you can't get it back :(

that happens to me to all music I really like.
I don't mind that much - something new will come along that I'll be enveloped by.

I don't think I've EVER really gotten into it, it's something I've respected more than actually enjoyed. I love it, but other than a few select tracks, I haven't clicked with a lot of them.
SAW3 is a pipe dream. :_-(

But I know what you mean. Its like the first while when I got into SAW 1 and Come to Daddy Ep. In fact I think I am at the stage where no music is making me fell anything right now.
i reckon it`s because as you get older you get stuck in a rut and banality subconciously begins to creep into your life and you lose the naivety which makes new music so wonderful.
I am working at Argos right now (only 2 weeks left though) and that is really fuckin banal and I don`t feel any insporation at the end of the day to stick on a CD and say "Yeahhh thats what I`m talkin about!"
Its the fuckin grind man.
maybe its just me

Well I think music overkill can of course ruin listening in general. I think BOC is really the kinda of thing I can put on and dig seriously most of the time. However you gotta be psyched up to just get into the feel of certain music. I mean I love Autechre, Aphex and all but sometimes you put stuff on and feel nothing and its frustrating but I think that is just music overkill. However I do have a hard time just putting on stuff like SAW1 and 2 and just seriously feeling it like I use to and it really really depressing me. In the past I just use to get such joy from listening to those records but now its harder.

yeah, but I dunno if it is music overkill because if you don`t listen to it much any more then it should sound fresh when you do. It may be to do with the fact that you have become so familiar with these works that there is nothing left to discover.
A good way around may be to play it on a walkman and go walk somewhere you normally wouldn`t in your everyday routine. Changing your surroundings is a good way to freshen a listening experience.
After all, they do say music is the soundtrack to our lives, and if you change the scenery, you won`t be in the same film.
or something! haha

oh, and usually if you give the album a long enough break, you will go back and be able to appreciate it again.

I think its because I'm just not a 'serious' ambient head anymore. I'm more a groove and melody head now. Thats why I dig BOC more I guess or something like that.

i don't know what your preferences are, but shrooming and listening to SAWII is awesome. you hear little sounds you never noticed before....
it's so (for want of a better word) 'intense'.
other than that, just stop listening to it for a month or so and i'm sure when you re-listen to it, it'll be like discovering it all over again. sometimes works for me....
