MF from here to be on 2001-11-21 22:08 [#00054289]

Aaladorn from mp3.com/aaladorn on 2001-11-21 22:14 [#00054291]

You didn't even give a link to download it, fucktard.

laughing cow from willow farm on 2001-11-21 22:37 [#00054295]

Taxi on 2001-11-22 00:02 [#00054314]

Really? I thought audiogalaxy was crap.

Taxi on 2001-11-22 00:04 [#00054317]

This is getting kind of dangerous.

I wish people would stop bragging about soulseek, or at
least comparing it to napster. The thing is, if it gets the
stigma of being the next napster, its going to become the
next target. File sharing on the internet is becoming a
large mark, and because of the legal precidents that the
record companies set in their case against napster, it is
going to be that much easier to crucify small file sharing
comunities like soulseek.

I mean, I am sure the guys at soulseek are pretty happy
about the success they have been sharing. Its not really my
place to say "don't go around telling people" But still, the
stigma of it being known as the next napster could sink it
even before it leaves beta testing stage. Tact.

soulseeker gayseeker its all the same flamming file
transfer unworthy crap

napster was decent, so was scour, bearshare had its days
but, seriously...they all suck now!

Byron from under your bed on 2001-11-22 00:48 [#00054337]

I use a bit of all of the above... Audiogalaxy has the best
format (just pick a song list and walk away.) Kazaa and
those other gnutella ones are decent, especially since it
has the option of sharing more than just mp3's. But if
you're into IDM/Electronic music, these people are right.
SoulSeek is where it's at.

Frothbottom from New York on 2001-11-22 02:02 [#00054359]

blue_clax from Alberta, Canada on 2001-11-22 08:21 [#00054451]

Im gunna have to say that limewire is king.

seanc@seanc.co.uk from Lincolnshire on 2001-11-22 10:20 [#00054462]

DFUCk:
was there any need for that comment? and IF i did post 3
times (which i didnt) so what? its obviously an error on my
behalf, or the boards problem.
BIG deal..

Aaladorn:
and was there any need for the 'fucktard' comment?
why not try going to a search engine and typing in the words
'soul seeker' its amazing what happens!!

ALL i was trying to do was help you people find decent
music, what do i get?
ABUSE.

I discovered soul seeker and i personaly found much more
electronic dance music on there than any other program i
have used, and i was letting you know.
I use AudioGalaxy, WinMX, Napster, Morpheos, Limewire
etc.etc.

EOF.

jand from Essex,Uk on 2001-11-22 12:52 [#00054485]

Agreed SoulSeek is THE IDM/Electronica file sharer of
choice... http://www.soulseek.org

Because it's so specialised, I should imagine that the
chances of it becoming the "next Napster" are very very
slim...this is tiny communinty compared to the monster that
was Napster (Nir, the guy behind SS, is an ex-napster
programmer doing this system for the love of it rather than
making any money)...

Like most people into IDM etc, I do what I can to support
the artists/labels involved by actually buying CDS/12" and
don't solely rely on MP3s for my music...Thats why I think
something like SS is a great way of getting music heard (and
eventually bought, if it's any good) and shouldn't affect
the continued existance of the labels.artists in
question...

Hence SS=Good for Everyone Involved & SS!=NAPSTER...

so seanc, don't worry about the whiners on this board:
teeling peeps about SS isn't the evil sin they seem to think
it is...

Audiogalaxy is good for all things audio.......downloaded
just about 2 GB in only two nights. And then there is
MORPHEUS, best for all things beside. Better than LimeWire.

Winjer from Cowtown on 2001-11-22 21:26 [#00054621]

Soulseek is dangerous....

If there's one genre that can be most hurt by filesharing -
it's IDM. These artists DEPEND on everyone who wants to
listen to their music buying it. It's such a niche market
that they can't afford to have their music spread freely
like pop/rock bands.

Taxi on 2001-11-22 22:26 [#00054644]

Most people find out about new acts by file sharing. Any
self respecting IDMer is going to buy what they like.

With soulseek I just about trippled or quadropled the amount
of IDM acts I knew about.
