Fast food, by far. I worked in one over the summer, and
people were constantly getting fired / hired.

Head for your local record shop...you get to doss all day
and get your music at a discounted price!

However, the pay is usually shit

but the law in my town, if you want to worrk in a music
storre, is that you have to be 13 and like The Coral, and
have no musical knowledge whatsoeverr.

Always has been, always will be the way :)

Only the fads and fashions change!

working in a record shop looks like a dream job to me
i'd be nice if i found one with decent music - i think over
here there isnt a decent record shop in radius of at least
500 kms

Hehe...a record shop with good music?

You have two hopes - Bob Hope and no hope.

These days all the major retailers are paid to play crappy
music by the record companies, you get a crappy uniform and
crappy pay. 'David Brent' style 20 year olds making crappy
managerial figures too...LOL

The upside is the discounted goods :) Oh, and when it's time
to go home ;)

Hmm, fast food joints, grocery stores, etc. And the call
center. I actually applied for a job there and I'm due for
an interview soon, it's supposed to pay nice with great
benefits, and it's easy as pie.

But generally, there's a lot of ''brain drain'' here. Young
people go off to find work elsewhere, mostly west to Alberta
and the rest of Western Canada. I would, but I'm to wimpy.

"call center" - i guess good english is required there + i
doubt richard does gigs there often

hooker is a good option - no language barrier + i can hook
around london and see richard's gigs often

McDonalds, and they both sucked ass... McDonalds was worse

They are big offices where people just answer telephone
calls about gas bills, train times, insurance etc.

They pay shit money, work you like dogs and are notorious
for not giving you breaks to go piss/shit. They should all
be blown up with management inside.

Where our forefathers got lung cancer to digging the "black
gold" that powered the industrial revolution. George Orwell
wrote a very good account (Shooting an Elephant and Other
Essays - George Orwell). As bad as his account is, it's
worth bearing in mind that was last century, by which stage
conditions had greatly improved.

I go to university near some of the largest redundant coal
mines. Even now, 50 years on there's bugger all employment
here.

You should just come here and claim asylum Tolstoy. Just
give them some half-arsed excuse about being "repressed" and
they'll let you in with open arms.

Every asylum seeker who enters Britain is given a new
semi-detached house, a new car, a wardrobe full of designer
clothes, the latest mobile phone and a suitcase full of £50
notes.

In Helsinki there is a *screaming* need for cleaners
(janitors). If you don't mind cleaning toilets and mopping
floors, Helsinki is the Holy Land for you :) ALso bear in
mind the fairly decent electronic music scene... :)

that's just me being cynical cuz I never seem to get any ;)

Profession is not something women look for here. Or maybe in
some yuppie bars, but generally girls are quite cool.

Which reminds me, I'm going on date with this chick who's
into electro:) Yay! At last I find someone with a decent
taste in music...

Sorry Nacmat. It was a reference to the British comedy
series Fawlty Towers which starred Monty Python's John
Cleese. One of the characters was a Spanish waiter called
Manuel who's catchphrase was "Que?".

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be offensive.

What she listens to? I haven't had a chance to talk to her
properly yet, but I've seen her at many electro-shows by
finnish artists that I like as well. And she is an organiser
in her university's electronic music
club/department/whatever thing...
