..anyone else here like his work, both on film and on
canvas..?

he can be pretentious as fuck, but I do think he has made
some beautiful and (more important) interesting work.

"The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover" is just
stunning, "Drowning by Numbers" even more so.

he's also one of the few persons that I think can actually
succesfully pull off a collage.

i have heard of the movie you mentioned tho....cos it caused
quite a stir here in the US.....ratings wise i believe.

do you recommend?

where can i see more of his art work?

he has compiled numerous expositions, but almost exclusively
in Europe.

you should have a look at his films, but be prepared.. he
thinks the medium of film is too versatile to be wasted on
the simple telling of a story. therefore, do not expect much
of a plot in his films.

"The Cook.." is the easiest to begin with, because it does
have a story but is still visually stunning.

how awful this might sound, he does seem to paint on
celluloid.

He's a wildman of cinema - last thing of his I saw was The
Baby of Macon, I think - pretty goddamn disturbing. I wanna
see it again. Was that before or after Prospero's Books?

Greenaway reminds me of a certain Sesame Street character -
can you guess who?

he is one of those artists that you either really like, or
simply hate.

if you're renting "The Cook.." give it another viewing after
quite some time. I didn't like it that much the first time,
I was still focusing too much on the story (which is pretty
flimsy). but the times after that - oh boy!

you'll probably also love the soundtrack by Michael Nyman
(he kind of started out scoring for Greenaway's films, until
they had some kind of fued round the making of "Prospero's
Books" and never collaborated again).

there are a few books containing his art, pretty nice.

Oh wait, I forgot, I also saw The Pillow Book after that -
it was lovely. I hardly remember it tho - I have an
impression of a book coming to life, and Ewan McGregor's
corpse in a huge urn... time to see it again I guess.
