i don't if i'd call it a remix - i'd say it's more of a
cover track - but a very good one at that.

It's not "loev with" either. My bestest JD track is
'Twentyfour hours'.

The lyrics and the voice are brilliant.

as much as i like squarepusher, he really made a mess of
LWTUA. it sounded so wrong. it's always difficult to cover
classic songs, but his version was a pile of wank in my
opinion.

I think it's OK... I liked the incessant cymbols and his
little pansy-boy voice. But the original is just too much,
you really can't top it.

Because lists rock, I guess my top 10 Joy Division tracks
are:
1- Twenty Four Hours
2- Day of the Lords
3- Transmission
4- Shadowplay
5- Candidate
6- Atrocity Exhibition
7- the Warsaw version of Interzone, with the crazy screams
8- Decades
9- Colony
10- Disorder

Whoo.

It's harsh listening if you've never been into them. It's
not like hearing Astrobotnia's Thoarse from the other room
and running in thinking, wow what amazing music!

Tom Jenkinson should learn about something called "Volume"
before he attempts to sing again...

Stick to your mad bass talent there sp...

apparently i'm not alone on this... i did a google search and found this
lonely message board poster who would like a dvd of the
following:
- - Atmosphere & LWTUA promo videos
- - BBC Something Else
- - Granada Reports 1978 Shadowplay
- - Granada Reports 1979 She's Lost Control
- - Dutch TV Feb 1980 Transmission
- - Eindhoven from Fact37 with improved sound from the
bootleg.
- - Three live tracks from 14.3.79 and anything else from
the pulled substance
video
- - Anything else Wilson finds after a colonic irrigation
- - If there were, say, 20 tracks in all, the DVD could be
called "20 0"

Bonus Features

- - "In Conversation" - interviews from Something Else and
any other such
material around
- - "Joy Division's Greatest Shit" - all the Manchester
Apollo tracks from
Oct79.

I think I've heard pretty much everything I need to hear
that they've recorded (minus a million live show bootlegs
and whatnot of course), BUT I've never seen Here are the
Young Men... I'd love to though, a korse.

I love his dancing in the BBC Transmission video. Man, that
was one funky white boy. I'm going to rip a clip of his
moves so I can watch them whenever. And it would make the
SICKEST .gif.

about the whole Manchester scene

then there was a New Order's recent live DVD featuring some
new performances of 5 Joy Division songs

the Squarepusher cover was quite a letdown, as his version
doesn't stray in the least bit away from the original, which
for obvious reasons is far superior.

interesting quote from 'outremont mainline runs across the
sunset' by Sixtoo:
"love doesn't tear us apart, it's the little things. the
time in between kisses that affects the way the phone rings"

even better than the original. It's very... dramatic...

Ok, here's my top 10

01 Disorder
02 Transmission
03 She's Lost Control (BBC Recordings Track 3 Version)
04 Twenty Four Hours
05 Isolation
06 New Dawn Fades
07 Decades
08 Shadowplay
09 Digital
10 Exercise One

It's so easy to get obsessed with Joy Division
