Since today I started a treatment with this medicine.
Anyone else here who have tried this or similar drugs, and
what can you say about it?

I'm curious what to expect in about two weeks when they
start to kick in.

/Joakim

I've been on Citalopram/Ciprimal. I didn't notice any
obvious effect from them at all. I think it depends on the
persons state of mind, and they probably effected me so
subtley I didn't notice.

I found more difficulty sleeping and also found I felt awful
if I missed a dose (40mg). That might have been a placebo
effect as the drug should stay in your system for at least a
week.

When I came off them I found that I was hit with waves of
extreme fatigue/tiredness, I found it difficult to operate
because my mind was so tired and confused. But it only lasts
a week or too, and isn't really a huge problem if you come
off them slowly in stages.

I wouldn't recommend going on anti-depressants/SSRI's unless
you really have to. I found they dulled my mind. I didn't
notice it at the time, but since coming off them I have felt
alot better, happier and interested in the world than when I
was on them. But they did help me through a bad patch... and
into a good patch.

I think anti-depressants are alot less effective without
some form of theraptic counsoulling/classes... and positive
action by the person themselves.

So smile & be happy & good luck :p

Thanks for the insights Yaba... Not very positive response
but I guess the effects may vary a lot from person to
person.

I am going to continue psychotherapy sessions while taking
the pills, and my problem is not so much a depression. It's
more of a social phobia kind of thing, which I'm slowly but
surely overcoming now...

Im seeing a psychatrist´soon, I hope he prescribes me some
flashy drugs, like Xanax. Stuff that stops making me feel so
akward and shy in social situations... ;)

Yeah I was prescribed Citalopram about a year ago - Never
got round to taking it though - I think my anxiety's
gradually going since I quit weed and cigarettes and
things... Has taken a long while and I've managed to get
much more into my music in the mean time - For some reason
splitting with my girlfriend seems to be helping!?!

Joakimlinden: Yeah mine's mainly social - I'm not consiously
nervous or worried or anything, I just get intense physical
symptoms sometimes - Like a racing heartbeat - Sometimes
shortness of breath - Only in some situations... Taking
regular exercise seems to have helped a lot - Get less of
the old symptoms - Don't notice the lightheadedness so much
anymore, which is a big plus cos that used to make me feel
10x worse!

It's odd cos when I used to smoke weed regularly I was the
exact opposite - I used to NEED to put myself in really
hectic social situations - Go out all the time etc...
