dej on 2001-11-20 16:04 [#00053844]

at first i thought it was shit but it isnt. just dont
listen to it in one go. i love it now, so fuck off.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-20 16:16 [#00053852]

I loved it since the beginning of time, everyone will
eventually learn to love it, as well.

balthus from europe on 2001-11-20 16:19 [#00053853]

i second that.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-20 16:21 [#00053856]

And I third it.

balthus from europe on 2001-11-20 16:25 [#00053860]

you can only third it if you are ophecks' clone.

Taxiderm on 2001-11-20 19:13 [#00053896]

Heh. Lucky for me I listened to the mp3's before going out
and buying that rubbish.

1010-1111-10 from St.John\\\\\\\\'s Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-20 21:15 [#00053942]

I dont know man, there is something about that album that
makes it loop in my head. His sounds are amazing

laughing cow from willow farm on 2001-11-20 21:21 [#00053949]

Don't get me wrong, i like it, but's it's no picknic is it?
It's like you we're expecting a free period and you got
homework instead. But from your favorite teacher!...?

Gonzola from stockholm on 2001-11-20 21:25 [#00053952]

listen to it almost every day, not the whole album but bits
of it

MF from here to be on 2001-11-20 21:26 [#00053954]

this album is just a test and it's working

blue_clax from Alberta, Canada on 2001-11-20 22:15 [#00054012]

I downloaded the mp3's before it came out... Loved them...
when out and got the cd, still loved it. I dont see what you
guys are bitching about. The cd kicks ass. It reeks of RDJ.

laughing cow from willow farm on 2001-11-20 22:18 [#00054014]

Yeah, maybe we expected him to sell out.

MF from here to be on 2001-11-20 22:18 [#00054015]

see it's working : )

laughing cow from willow farm on 2001-11-20 22:19 [#00054016]

Well no, i just wish he'd do something that enough people
will buy to give him the recognition he deserves

MF from here to be on 2001-11-20 22:22 [#00054020]

why he has

od from perth on 2001-11-21 03:17 [#00054069]

it doesnt make me feel stoned when i listen to it, like i
thought it would :(

yeah i reckon its good.
the piano tracks seem a little arty to me...a little
wankish, if you will

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-11-21 03:28 [#00054071]

there's a new term... "Wankish" I like :) thanks OD

Gonzola from stockholm on 2001-11-21 06:45 [#00054088]

wankish? ok maybe avril14 is a little cheesy(still good
though), but the rest are just plain beautiful...

.PEACE

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-21 11:33 [#00054118]

i think the album as an album is shite-no flow to it sounds
thrown together blah blah blah-but make a minidisc comp and
its sweet. like the entire rephlex back catalogue-70%
pointless pretentious electronica under a lo-fi umbrella
that has sagged with age & putrification from acid rain of
yesterday, 31.232332626222 % genius.

wizards teeth on 2001-11-21 11:39 [#00054121]

Oooooooh I love it

Some of the slow stuff is shite

But some of the fast stuff makes me want to take off my
clothes and run round the streets with my john thomas
flapping about.

If the police catch me i will say:

"Hey man I am doing this cos I am happy, what is wrong with
my tadger (appart from its size), go and catch the real
criminals those who steal wheel chairs and blow up combine
harvesters. I am happy, there is no crime in that is there
mr. officer".

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-21 16:48 [#00054196]

but you being happy will make all the children cry...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-21 16:48 [#00054197]

not me however!!!!! *wink* *wink*

aaron guy from new mexico on 2001-11-21 17:30 [#00054205]

I'm holding onto it for sentimental reasons

w...ww(wwMMww)ww...w on 2001-11-21 17:43 [#00054210]

The fast drum songs have a percussion unit on every single
row of musical progression and that makes it sound dumb
sometimes. I havn't heard it enough to make up my mind. It
sounds like maybe he was using different equipment that
doesn't allow such interesting results. I really like how
"taking control" etc. evolves constantly though, sometimes
turning into a isolated melody then returning. I'm pretty
sure the complicated drums pretty much stay the same but the
melody only changes (I'd have to llisten again). I think i
agree with some review I read where he's trying to be, like
a "mature" musician like eric satie and it doesn't work for
him.

Gonzola from stockholm on 2001-11-21 20:57 [#00054270]

i think he proved to be a mature (don't like that word)
musician long ago, like back when he released caustic
window. no one would call caustic window pretentious because
it's hard and agressive. but just because it's got pianos
and a dramatic thouch to it everyone starts shouting
pretentious!!!!

.PEACE

Quadrapelegicrobotikev from mp3.com/quadrapelegicrobotik on 2001-11-22 00:18 [#00054324]

fuck that

aarons from newmexico on 2001-11-22 00:43 [#00054332]

I think I'm starting to like it more now, we'll see. Maybe
it's like the latest autechre, you really have to listen to
it the right way

aaron guy from newmexico on 2001-11-22 01:19 [#00054348]

ok I like this now, fuck

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-11-22 04:51 [#00054409]

when i first downloaded the album i thought it was boring.
then one morning i smoked half a vial of oil and really
listened to the album. now i think that it is a piece of
pure genious! if i were to meet mr. james i would suck on
his toes in return for the happiness and meaning he brings
to my life. thanks to him i have a passion to make music for
myself.

aaron guy from newmexico on 2001-11-22 05:49 [#00054422]

awesome, good to hear it. I'm really taking a liking to it
myself,.. donno why I've got to be so quick to judge
sometimes, has it been EVER that my favorite albums I liked
the first time around? No. Mr James has inspired me as well

Saibot on 2001-11-22 07:39 [#00054434]

Aphex Twin is no easy Stuff. You gotta listen to the shit,
when you´re alone (and maybe smoked some weed:) . His sound
is absolutely amazing. He´s gotta extreme complex structure
in his songs. So don´t talk such a shit about "drukqs" when
you listend to it only 2 times. The aphex´sounds are
something individual. He´s fucking great, although some
tracks are really shit (some of them are really bad). The
Ambient Album II is one of my favourite CD´s ever.

aaron guy from newmexico on 2001-11-22 07:47 [#00054439]

personally I don't think any of the tracks are shit. Most
aphex hasn't been hard listening to me, back when it was
icbyd I caught on pretty much right away, and with classics
and older shit that was immediately catching music
