tom from toms shack on 2001-11-20 12:44 [#00053815]

how many of you can actually stomach drukqs as an album? i
find it totally unlistenable-sounds like a load of tracks
unseqenced thrown together, but i have made two
minidiscs-one with all the hardcore trackes & one with all
the ambient ones-thats the only way ive been able to get
into it. aaahh man im such a wuss.

.mk. from barcelona on 2001-11-20 12:48 [#00053818]

oh yes
i think drukqs would be a better album without cd2
well, we can save a pair of songs from cd 2...but

yes i think i will also do a compilation of the best songs
of druqks

jand from Essex,Uk on 2001-11-20 12:56 [#00053820]

yeah, the ordering of the tracks is a little funny...but I
think if he'd just put all the slow ones on one disc & all
the fast ones on the other then each disc would suffer from
sounding "samey" with not enough variation...

At least with the way it is currently, you get some
breathing space...

Hell, who listens to LPs all in one go any more
anyway?....it was important with things like Tape & Vinyl
because it was a hassle to reorder things and pick and
choose tracks but with CDS, MDS & MP3s it's a piece of piss
to come up with a listening order that suits you anyway...

od from perth on 2001-11-20 14:08 [#00053827]

i usually just listen ot the drill tracks

Fernz on 2001-11-20 15:23 [#00053840]

Its a difficult listen straight through... but maybe that
was the intention. :)
I dont have any complaints though. Except I was expecting
more drill. :(

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-20 16:20 [#00053854]

Only about half of the pianos tickle my fancy, and some of
the drills are really weird. But you eventually pick up all
the little nuances, and start liking the insanity. As an
album, it's thrown together, like ANY album, then people
make stupid inferences as to what the track order means. It
never means ANYTHING, even in Dark Side of the Moon, who
gives a fuck that Money is song 5, and Time is #3. If the
tracks were all mixed up, people would be like, 'oh man, the
track order is AMAZING, INTEGRAL to the listening
experience.' Vordhosbn could be the last song on the second
disc for all I fucking care.

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-11-20 16:43 [#00053872]

Well the man did mention something about, he wants people to
just upload the tracks they dig from Drukqs, and then go
down and get you´r money back.

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-20 16:49 [#00053876]

nah-i dont agree that albums are just thrown together-and
yeah i think running order does affect the way you percieve
the whole shebang-what if pink floyd had kicked off with
'the great gig in the sky'? dark side of the moon as a
'concept album' (excuse me whilst im ill) would not have
worked. my point being that the tracks are great-its just an
uncomfortable listen-buts theres enough variation on each
track to merit a compilation-personally i love all the drill
n bass hed fuck shit-it just seems however very sparse as
they appear on the cd-string em and sequance em together on
a mini disc along with his quirky 20sec sample and it flows
like twwweeeakle. not dissing the man-fair play to him-but
the album as an album aint got that continuity of the last
one. i love my drukqs comp..

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-20 16:52 [#00053877]

soz that sounded a bit up me own arse-my drukqs comp works
for me-shit now i sound like a tampax advert!!!

MF from here and going on 2001-11-20 17:01 [#00053885]

sorry but listen to u guys, he doesn't care why should you.
why blah blah blah stuff and things.
I love gwerk 2 and avril 14th today by the way, gonna remix
avril tonight maybe make a drill track or Kore as i call it.
Works over now hometime bye!

bartez from my head on 2001-11-20 18:20 [#00053886]

I read in an interview with Richard that he just provided
the "raw material" and that everyone should make their own
"druqks"! ie. make your own mixtapes/discs, decide the order
for yoursleves.

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-21 12:22 [#00054126]

nah-only cuz im interested in how artists put albums
together. thats all...not gettin stressed over it!!!

al>< from dublin on 2001-11-21 12:34 [#00054128]

personally i stick on the thing and let my brain go for a
walk, run, jog and roll through the album, ducking here,
stopping there, smelling the flowers, dodging the lasers.
It's a journey for me and whether RDJ ordered the songs with
100% intention(he said he did) or not...i pretend he did and
walk with him through different moods, feelings and
soundscapes. Thats this week anyway.

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-21 12:36 [#00054129]

i like that al. mmmnnn-do you get many lazers over there?

al>< from dublin on 2001-11-21 12:40 [#00054130]

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-21 15:13 [#00054169]

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-21 15:34 [#00054177]

Richard said that? Make our OWN Drukqs? Good plan, that's
our Richard!

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-21 15:39 [#00054182]

what vdo you get if you take the you out of drugs? dugs.

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-21 15:39 [#00054183]

erm... drgs.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-21 16:42 [#00054193]

yeah I know, order doesn't make any difference at all... I
mean, you take the Wall for instance... stick The Trial, and
Outside the Wall at the beginning, and it wouldn't make any
difference at all...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-21 16:44 [#00054194]

Or you could stick Another Bring in the Wall pt 3 after
Outside the Wall... it would be like

Pink: Ok sweet, I'm out...
Worms: Oh wait, theres another brick, so get back in!!!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-21 17:44 [#00054211]

HAHAHAHA, that was so funny, Tom!!

tom from toms shack on 2001-11-22 16:54 [#00054555]

erm...thanks.
