released this year (2003). not highly familar with the
entirity of his discography, so i wasn't sure if i dled a
mislabeled abulm, but i just checked, and it is legit.

This album is pretty sweet. If you've heard his second last
album "consumed", you'll be in familiar territory.

Sheet One, Musik, and Artifakts BC were a Plastikman trilogy
in standard jewel cases, each with a red and black
plastikman logo on a white background.

I think that Consumed, Closer and another Plastikman release
starting with the letter "C" in a black cardboard sleeve
will be the next trilogy installment.

I'm quite sure that I'll be right on this one, although I'm
not sure how much more minimal this guy can get with his
next release. There's already hardly anything there.

Now I'm on a Plastikman kick again. Shit.

i bought this today...he didnt impress me much with his
previous releases i've heard, but this one is EXCELLENT
so dark and minimalistic...this is really something for the
brain, its extremly tense music but not danceable so it
would be great to listen to this and then listen to some
crazy drum n bass so you can get wild and relaxed :)

brilliant stuff!!!

i think the "vox" or phonography samples in it add texture,
but i feel that there's nothing new. I like his work with
de9.

My fav richie hawtin sounds are from the artifackts era.

i like this..... haven't listened to it much though, "closer
to the edit" has taken more of my time.... that thing is
amazing

closer to the edit is pretty good. anyone get any of the 12
really minimal 12"s he released in 96? they are fantastic.
managed to track down 5 of them, cant remember the name of
that project though.

really like closer.

CHEAP....I dunno why you lot like it....its not very
good...infact it sucks

i wonder why people are comparing richie hawtin releases
with plastikman releases, as he has those 2 different
aliases for totally different projects.

i agree - that is the point of having 2 different aliases..
but essentially it is the same man making the music. so
people can, at least, decide which alias they prefer to
enjoy aurally.. so to speak.

i personally think 'closer' is a great release. i love
hawtin's plastikman albums. i know it's been criticised for
the sci-fi-esque vocal elements+the recycling of old
plastikman basslines.. but it my mind, the fact that it
(argueably) doesnt cover as much ground as previous albums
is just an academic point. in my opinion, its a great
record. dark, atmospheric - still funky in places.. once
again, the construction is so minimal, its as much about
what isnt there as what is.

plasticman? you mean the one from rephlex? i don't know him
all that well actually...
as for plastikman (hawtin), yep, i'd say he's better then
both, autechre and brinkmann :)

though, brinkmann is very good as well!

whoops, my bad. i meant plastikman, whose work i have never

plasticman, whose work i have heard, is capable of conjuring
an exciting beat and bassline but clearly
in fact: 1000000*plasticman<1*autechre!

Reccomend me some more Richie Hawtin or Plastikman.

Consumed was amazing... this album would have been too, if
it weren't filled with god awful super psuedo-intelectual
psuedo-artistic spoke word shit over top. Release an
instrumentals album, and it would have been one of the best
albums of 2003. As far as I am concerned, if this is the
direction he needs to go artistically, then he has become an
awful artist.

I don't mind the vocals. I think they work quite well on

The title track of consumed is a masterpiece.

The Decks Fx and 909 mix from a few years ago was excellent,
it's not as minimal as Closer to the edit, and really gets
me in the mood to bounce around a club.

I like the first bit of this album.

But he ruins it with the more cluttered and regular tracks
at the end-they just sound like badly done, repetitive
techno imo.

But the first half is wicked.
