He was some character...

People say I should do comics and things because I'm good at
art and have a vivid imagination, but I'm not. I'm just a
lucky scribbler.

In response, yes i am a moron. Wonder where i got the name
chris ochre then? I'm guessing somewhere off this board, i
googled and it brought up aphex-related stuff.

I like a lot of the Slave Labor comics (Jhonen Vasquez and
Roman Dirge). quoting JTHM has got me into trouble several
times tho'. hehe.
Recently getting into Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.

I haven't had a chance to go to the comic shop in so long. i
miss it. i always meet interesting geeky people in there. :)

I haven't read a book/comic...anything with a story in soo
shamefully long. I know I'm missing out and yet, I'd still
rather just wallow.

Was it the one, where he explains his sexual relation to
roger rabbit??? Thats great.

Anyway, one of my new favourites is someone, who i actually
got recommended from this board: Dave Cooper. SExually
explicit, funny and great humour.

Heres a couple of others
Grant Morrison: Invisibles
Alan Moore: Everything he ever did
Those, "Big bog of..." from paradox.

I just managed to fet a hold of and read Daniel
Clowes's_Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron.
An amazing indie comic book. David Boring is also a
brilliantly realised tale of Clowe's. It's a shame that of
all of his work the one that gets made into a film, is his
least cinematic work..."Ghost World"

george harriman is awesome
unfortunately its quite hard to get krazy kat books here in
austria.

atm im interested in german/swiss comics, cause there is a
small but very good comic scene.

www.strapazin.ch >> excellent comic magazin

well and in austria there is only nicolas mahler. he is
brilliant tho, i especially like the kratochvil comics

www.mahlermuseum.at >> i think his comics are published in
german and french

oh and for manga, i like very much 3x3 Eyes by Yuzo Takada,
and Gunnm (it's called "Battle Angel Alita" in some
countries)... Love Hina is also very good for cheering up
and laughing, even though it is shallow and repetitive (can
become boring after a while), it is very nice for
entertainment value... :)

hmmm. comics. yes....
well, for starters, my avatar is from blade of the immortal,
which is an excellent manga.
jeff smith (bone), quite good.
alan moore (watchmen, from hell), also quite good.
neil gaiman (sandman, stardust), obviously good.
queen and country is an excellent comic coming out of the
the "indie" scene.
i always enjoyed the old elfquest comics.
akira and ghost in the shell are both far superior to their
movie adaptations.
sadly, comics are dying, and most people, including many
working in the industry, fail to understand that comics are
not simply a failed combination of film and literature. at
their best, they're far better than both, but we rarely see
them at their best.
the scene right now is basically retarded and dominated by
fanboys who completely miss the point of comic books as an
art form and obsess over shallow, badly written, poorly
drawn spandex comics that had their hayday in frank millers
"revival" of the genre. of course now everyone is writing
frank miller rip offs, so the original dark knight returns
comics sound vacant and unoriginal, which they aren't.
too bad really, i suppose its one of the reasons why i'd
like to go into comics. changing up the scene would be
nice.
as for web comics, not enough artists are harnessing the
infinite possiblilties of the net. whether they simply don't
understand the medium or are too lazy to write anything
beyond digital versions of print is up in the air, but very
few are producing anything of worth, scott mcloud and his
peers being some of the exceptions.

i used to be really into comics, but not so much anymore -
plus i don't have the funds to be into them. but i still
have a fairly big collection.

Blade of the Immortal - first trade paperback and a few
other issues - great manga if you ever get around to reading
it.
Curse of the Spawn - all 29 issues of the series - it was
pretty good when it started, but then it just went downhill
during the middle of the series due to poor and lazy
writing.
The Darkness - issue 1, and 5-12. this was a fantastic
series when Garth Ennis was writing for it, but after he
left it lost its hold on me.
Various Dragonball and Dragonball Z comics.
Excalibur - this was the humourous and fantasy alternative
to X-Men - it had some great characters, but some of them
were rarely used to their full potential - like Nightcrawler
- JESUS! I ALWAYS loved him, but instead Captain fucking
Britain gets all the attention? Weak. But Kitty Pride and
Pheonix II were usually well utilized.
Some Ghost Rider comics (series II) somewhere....
Issues 1-7 of Crimson...
Some Tank Girl, The Maxx...
Omega Men - An old DC series that spun off from Green
Lantern. It had a lot of great characters, many of them
always developing, and for being a DC comic, it was pretty
damn dark, especially after Crisis on Infinite Earths.

that's all i can remember right now.. i'll think of what
else i have later.
