Damn near perfect. Sweeping textures, subtle melodies,
every emotion...superb.

As well intended as this feature is it's kinda annoying :/

I haven't yet discovered the merits of Confield, still
sounds like a load of bollocks at the moment

To some people it always will :)

strongest way of showing to others what IDM is , i think. i
made few cloe encounters before i could listen to it - as i
remember it was 4 times :)
and , when i bought it on 12" i felt difference in sound - i
even found sounds which i couldnt hear on cd !
anyway - great album ...but not the best for me.

In months to come it could be the most abused feature ever.

I personally find it fantastic! It doesn't resemble anything
else or make me think that "It sounds like this" or "reminds
me of that".

IMO they raised the bar and set the standards high here.

its thier masterpeice work

although I must say I prefer Chiastic Slide, because it is
alittle more accessable

but when Im in the right mood, I can appriciate confield for
all its brilliance

confield is definitely my favorite ae album. i think it's
perfect front to back. i can understand why somebody
wouldn't be into it the first few listens, because i don't
think i really loved it until the third time i heard it.
then something clicked. it's challenging, but that's why
it's also groundbreaking.

it was actually one of the first AE release I listened to. I
bought it at the same time as Tri Repetae++ and Chiastic
Slide (thanks to everyones reccomendations on here :))

and yeah, I was into it soon after listening!

I really think CONFIELD is the best AE's album, and ep7 is
the best EP.

sweet... I still need to get some Cichlisuite though...

Would you reccomend Confield as the first album to pick up
for someone new to avant - electronica ?

i admit that it is one of the most original, detailed,
skillful albums ive ever heard.....but i wouldnt say it was
one of the best albums ever- a factor in being 'best' is
wanting to listen to it again and again, and as
ahead-of-its-time as confield is, its not enjoyable on a
daily basis.

offline xlr from Boston (United States) on 2003-10-21 10:52 [#00912218]

Ah, confield. Critically acclaimed yet shunned by listeners
turned off by the harsh, chaotic sound.

I love damn near every song on the album, and that's grounds
for a best-of-artist selection. It flows so beautifully.
The sound is quite unique: machines and nothing else.

I find its best at night. Confield has a very creepy yet
smooth quality, especially on tracks like parhelic triangle
and uviol.

i think the grouping of sim gishel, parhelic traingle and
bine is a bit of genius :)

when i listen to bine i picture this huge demon like thing
rising out of the ground at the beginning and sending forth
millions of different creatures to rape the land. The
clickity clack noises are the different creatures. That
other sort of background noise is the demon communicating to
them and his mouth is always wide open. Awesome.

This CD isn't as bad as I remembered it to be. Pen Expers is
excellent with the cut up beats and struggling melody, it's
just too long.

Some of the tracks are Ae's most boring though, like VI
scose poise. Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 are just the usual Ae
sound mangling that got boring after EP7. These tracks go
nowhere.

Uviol is nice, for a while. Starts out really great, but
after 4mins of the samesamesame you expect something to
happen, which of course in a clever way doesn't. Same with
Lentic catachresis.

I guess the bottom line is: if my CD would break, would I
buy or even download the music again?

No.

confield is a great record with a perfect production it
hasn't got any weak moment but every track seems to be
necessary to draw the ae point of view.on the other hand
tough i'm not very close to this record as to chiastic slide
or amber which are less perfect but offer greater feeling
and songs to me. it's almost the same feeling i have with
tri repetae which is quite similar to confield in it's being
well produced as well as detached. so confield for me is a
record where to learn not to feel something

this is their worst IMO,.....DRaft is even better, and
Tri-Repetae-Chiastic Slide is their best. Cichlisuite is
the best EP,. i consider EP7 an album.....

parhelic triangle is nice, so is PARTS of cfern, pen expers,
uviol, and eidetic casein...

strong feelings for me, aswell as a new world of audio
enviroment!
Fantastic!
Pen Expers is soo strong!
Only weak point is eidetic casein with it´s ugly melody!
and sometimes the last song is just too long, sometimes
not...

Still the best ae album as a whole!
very intense, very strong! Pure feeling for me!

i dont listen to confield that much at all.

some of you probably remember i made a very detailed video
for BINE (like a year ago) right now it sits at 1 minute 45
seconds long and i have not touched it in over a year

lentic catachresis i dig tho, i always throw it on and
headjam

the tour was fresh.
