jesus christ.
my soundcard went out again today - i removed my keyboard from the line in slot - i had been recording - then i get a blue screen that tells me to restart my computer. and when i restart it, my computer tells me there's a "resource" error in PCI slot 1 - my sound card. I tried everything and nothing worked.
Well my sound card went out a couple of months back so i figured i would remove it, start the comp back up again, then put it back in. tried it - didn't work. So i figure, fuck it, i probably fried it again, I'll just get another one.
And I turn my computer back on - soundcard now removed - and my fucking sound STARTS WORKING AGAIN. My old soundcard apparently reactivated somehow - my sound is fine now.
Madness - I was so pissed off for a second too - now i'm just REALLY confused - but i have sound, so i can't complain.

i remember you having that problem a while back, it is usually best if you avoid unplugging and plugging things into the pc while it is still turned on (with the exeption of USB devices of course)

don't you have an 'OFF' button?
I know people that keep their computers on 24/7 and don't have any problems, i personally turn my off or the noise keeps me awake.

just unplugging a keyboard from the soundcard shouldn'tve done anything wrong.. maybe you dislodged it or something.. was it screwed in properly? or maybe you leaned on the plug slightly as you were taking it out, causing something to break?

i didn't unplug anything, but i noticed the new soundcard was loose when I opened up my comp. there was a resource conflict whenever i tried to boot up the pc with the new soundcard in - but when i removed it and booted, my old one started working again. oh well - at least i have another one if this one goes bad.
i always had a weird feeling about the built-in (old) soundcard because i didn't really do anything that would have made it fuck up. i guess it just got disabled - but i couldn't restart it from windows. i must have done something at the BIOS screen that enabled it again.
madness.
