do i look like a monster? do i look like a devil? what's
a nightmare? sir, a very bad dream. have you ever had a
nightmare? yes, sir.

here's a full on drum n bass track for halloween. if you
feel like making a track for halloween, post your link here.
otherwise, tell me what you think of this track. unless,
of course, you're afraid...

hmmmmmmmz

Im totally in on dnb these days, all sorts of.

It's a nice ryth u got there.

I think the molody works but doesnt do more then work, in
fact it works it way thru the whole song wich is 4:28 and
that makes the melody irritating and boring.

It's a good sound for a dnb track thou if u only variated
more, both on drums and especially the melody.

if i make a 4:28 long track the song often changes a couple
of times and maby more, can check it out if u like
http://www.zebox.com/awt

keep up the good work =D

what can i say, i'm a happy demon. i forgot to say, too,
that you should make a track special for this halloween.
don't just post some old track. if you do, i will invade
your dreams and deliver what for unto you.

roygbiv, i'll tell you what you need, a good antipsychotic.

_awt_, i appreciate your comment, but the melody does not
repeat throughout the track. in fact, there is a lot of
variation in the melody rhythmically, although there is a
primary motif that repeats several times. anyway, thanks
for listening and commenting.

i have one of your tracks, i think it's untitled. it's
insidiously catchy. a short robot electro track. i'll
check out more of your stuff when i get a chance.

I like this sort of downtempo "easy listening" drum and
bass. It's normally more jazzy, but this is a nice
variation. Where's the sample from out of interest?

ceri: which sample? there are many samples. the voices, i
don't know where they come from, except for the howl, that's
a friend of mine. he was howling in anger and frustration
upon the receipt of a pornographic video catalog in the
mail. there are two or three samples from the flintstones.
there's a chopped up martin luther king speech in there,
with applause. i used a few samples from the radiohead
remix contest (actually the child's voice and the "ever had
a nightmare" voice samples are from those, but i don't know
their origin). the guitar was played, then edited and
reprogrammed... etc etc etc

roygbiv, bring it on!!!

kochlear, thanks!

this is definitely a weird one. i liked it alot, i liked the
contrast between the eerie samples and the happy chords. and
i agree with ceri, the laid-back d'n'b stuff is nice.

anyone else that would like to post a halloween track? it
occurs to me that i don't know if anyone (besides americans)
observes halloween...

thanks for listening, tibbar.

fleetmouse, a very fitting contribution. my wife thought it
was very funny. especially the opera vocal sample.

roygbiv, we still await your 8bit savagery.

Check out Dark Stranger by Boogie Times Tribe. And Scottie
(can't remember the artist). Two early darkcore DnB tunes
from back in 93-5 which still make my pants brown.

This track is nice but a bit more subtraction and addition
needs to be done to make sound better.

But still a nicely produced track.

: )

skink, are you talking about my track or fleetmouse's track?
if mine, the only mistake i think i made is not realizing
the major seventh sounds happy to people! nevertheless, i'm
always interested in (and sometimes surprised by) comments.
you're supposed to tell me, however, precisely what i should
subtract or add. soon it may be redone with samples from
"12 monkeys."

i'm watching the dvd "making of..." documentary for "12
monkeys" right now, and the problem the filmmakers face is
the poor reception from test audiences before the film is
officially released. one of them wears a t-shirt that says,
"art is working on something until you like it, and then
leaving it that way."

fleetmouse, i forgot to mention my appreciation for the
ouija image on your zebox page. where does the illustration
come from?

zebra, i like it.. this is not exactly "halloween"
spooky.. but i like the messed-up vocal samples, they add a
nice degree of ghoulishness.. i like how the little bits of
talking/miscellaneous sounds make up a lot of the
rhythmic-ness of this.. i'm not exactly a fan of "breaks" in
general, but you did a nice job with them in this.. nice
changes..not overly cut, where it just sounds like the audio
equivalent of surgical malpractice, i mean, cutting it up
just for the sake of cutting.. i like how at the end it just
sort of degenerates, and reveals little percussive bits that
were unnoticed in the background before that. overall this
is a nice little track.

I was talking about your track, i just though a little less
synth and some more bass and a different synth, you know
stuff like that.

hey not bad!

I like the general feel of it, some good sounds in there...
beats could be louder, and it could do with a bassline man!
but good stuff.

q, thanks!

skink, i know what you mean. the curry needs a little more
salt, and a little less onion. incidentally, there are no
synths at all. there's one drony sound that might sound a
little synthy, but everything else is guitar. (still, i
understand what you mean...) i still might add a
bassline....

diablo, thanks and thanks for listening. i thought about
adding a bassline but the track is layered with so many bits
and pieces already i went ahead without it. i will check
out yr track...

fleet, i saw the signature actually but didn't recognize. i
should've just googled it... thanks, though.

awt, i listened to the remix at your zebox page, i think
it's not really a style that i appreciate. maybe not
entirely representative of your work, since it's a remix,
it's very different from the untitled track of yours that i
have. i'll check out more when you have higher bitrate
versions posted.

diablo, some classic dnb sounds there, but i have to say
your remix cries out for a bassline! i kept expecting a fat
bassline to roll in... especially after your observation
that my track needs a bassline.

q, where's your halloween track?

i like it a lot.. it's sweet and fun. the drum programming
isn't original sounding at all (sounds lifted even!) but i
don't mind. it's kind of underworld meets squarepusher on
seasame street.

thanks, le coeur and t-worth! tits, i'm sure you recognize
the amen break, which i edited into three variations. the
amen freakout break that crops up a few times is used as
whoever originally edited it.

now, off to carve my pumpkin.
