Use a software sampler.

Kontakt is probably the easiest to get hold of.

lol, it is far from basic, it is considered to be the best
by some...I just meant if you aint gonna be paying cash for
it then Kontakt being by Native Instruments is going to be
the easiest to obtain (nudge nudge wink wink :D)

Or check out tracker software like www.renoise.com

Can d/l the basic version free - Worth checking out - Very
steep learning curve though - Is v. alien at first but is
basically one giant super sampler combined with step
programming, VST's, soft synths and MIDI...

Something like Kontakt could be good if yer already settled
with virtual studio type software - But the quality of soft
samplers is still well poor - Massive aliasing problems,
especially with EXS and Kontakt - Trackers have a big
advantage cos they can render files - Which gives you
perfect quality.

Where do you get this thing that the quality of soft
samplers is still poor?

Some of the most well known Renoise users use Kontakt as
part of their Renoise setup.

You still need to put Kontakt inside something, ie, a vst
host like cubase, fruity, buzz, etc.

Fruity does this natively too, using layers.

You don't actually...you can run Kontakt as a stand alone
pakage.

i'm pretty sure that's not possible.. cool edit is a wav
editing program, not a sequencer
