...Autechre

I just realised today that I make my own melodies to Ae's
music...it just dawned on me that some of the stuff I am
hearing isn't what I am actually listening to. Their music
just gets my imagination going I think...I dunno maybe I
have smoked to much weed or something.

you are right.

their melodies are presented in such a way that you mostly
can never be sure how much you are actually hearing and how
much you are filling in yourself. I love that.

a few people can do this well too - Phoenecia springs to
mind, the few times that Tricky Ricky Devine uses melody it
works like that.

that's very interesting how that works..
and who says we are all hearing the songs at all in the same
way as each other then..?
that may explain why some people hate their music.... i
mean.. other than just from having differing tastes..

even then it still comes down to differing tastes.

I know what you mean, I'm always ''remixing'' their melodies
in my head... rearranging the songs as I see fit.

And my versions always blow theirs out of the water, me >
Booth & Brown.

correct.. yes.. that's the main factor, but many might just
quickly dismiss it all as just semi-rhythmic noise if they
are unable to pick up on some of the implied melody in the
music.. and you are right, even if they could, they may
still hate it..

Ha ha, that 808 state track you hate so much, "Cubik" makes
me imagine all sorts of samples, just because they'd fit
well there :)

Everything about Ae is melodic...even the percussion is
melodic.

I have a limited knowledge of Ae but I know what you mean
there.

Well, with Xylin Room I know what you mean anyway..

What me worry? Who cares, I'll just do that move where you
grab their skulls and knock them together. Lights out.
