My synth- what to do?

Well, it has occured to me that half of the shit on my
Yamaha CS6X isn't working.. When I got it, I'm not sure if
only some of the things not working now worked then, as it
took me a while to learn all the different aspects to sound
generation and synthesis. The point is, now, for the most
part the effects processing, LFO wave-shape/speed changing,
and even when making changes with the oscillator
(adding/subtracting wave forms from a voice) just sometimes
won't do shit. When I was inexperienced I thought that some
of these things change the actual sound only slightly and
that it is hard to pick up on, but after working with many
other synths I now know that these things should change the
sound dramatically. Not all of the things I listed ALWAYS
dont work, but more often than not they dont. So I'm left
with trying to fuddle by with it (which is fine for my band
cuz i just do catchy-type leads and the presets and voices I
have made are good enough.. but for electronica I can't
really tweak like I would want to) or trying to sell it to
get another one. But, I can't really sell it to someone in
good conscious because I guess this is effectively the 2nd
time I've been fucked over trying to get a synth (first
time, deadbeat seller ripped me off) and I wouldnt want to
do that to someone else. But I cant afford a new keyboard
unless I sell this one. The other thing is that Sam Ash now
sells mine brand new for what I paid on Ebay, back when what
I paid was a really good deal, so I'm guessing there wont be
too big of a market for it anyway. What would you do?

if i were you, i'd read the manual. whenever i think things
actually are broken (ie. physically fucked up) its usually
just some obscure software thing, or cos i just plain havent
read the documentation properly.
plus, if a cs6x was broken, i think it would probably either
tell you, or not turn on at all.

Are you sure it's not working. I know the
sequencing/multitimbrality aspect of the CS1x was a bit
strange. People had major difficulties getting it to work
with the non-XG sounds. I would sell it in good confidence
and clear conscious. It's not your fault if the buyer
doesn't grasp the technology he is buying.

You do realise that for an LFO to actually change the sound,
it has to be modulating something. If it's just running on
it's own, you won't hear the change, even if you change the
LFO waveform. Unless, it can go into audible frequncies,
which isn't that common on cheaper synths. Set the LFO to
modulate Filter cut-off frequency. Turn up the modulation
Amount and change the LFO speed/frq. High speeds should
sound like farting, no matter what sound you have dialed in.
Maybe your synth is OK, I've been in the same situation
myself with my first Ensoniq synth.

Now, if it is broken, maybe Yamaha can fix it for you.

Thanks for the suggestions, yeah I know what you mean about
the LFO farting issue. I'll try to do what you guys have
suggested, but even still, I can't explain why the effects
processing just all of a sudden wouldnt work. Of all the
things, the effects is what works the least (basically
chorus and reverb and occaisonally a delay is all that will
work out of 82 fx, and another thing, sometimes it glitches
and wont even show them all... actually it never shows them
all, which bothers me..) I just remembered another thing,
sometimes when switching through different areas of editing,
some of the "pages" to edit certain things just wont come up
at all, as if my synth doesnt know they exist... I really
wish there was some kind of OS update for it but I know
there's not.
