I've been buying as much Luke Vibert on vinyl as I can
recently. He's such a mega cool dude.

He smokes pot you know.

It's still only music, however much you worship it and its
paraphenalia

offline japes from Suriname on 2003-10-11 21:08 [#00899008]

Yeah. Same with art and books. But if it says something to
you, no matter how profound or silly, something you can
relate to well, it can be priceless to you. The trick is not
to listen to your favourites too much. It's like sex... too
much jades you, it's the anticipation that's the best thing.

with sex you can have different people, like you can read
different books and listen to different music - having to
fuck one woman or man for the rest of your life is like
having to listen to one album and read one book for the rest
of your life. But hey! don't wanna seem downbeat or
anything!

i never really even liked IDM all that much til' i found out
that i liked all you dill weeds on xltronic.

i just listened to it so i would have more to talk to pdt
about.

but, the last two albums i bought were go plastic, an druqs,
so FUCK yOu GuYs!

offline japes from Suriname on 2003-10-11 21:17 [#00899020]
Points: 520 Status: Lurker

Not sure I agree. One woman is different to one album
because every sexual experience is different whereas
although you may feel different things while listening to
the same album, it's still the same music. you can change
sex, you can't change 1's and 0's on a cd. Well, you can
with DSPs and such but it's no longer really the artist,
it's your work inspired by the artist. like translations
from a foreign text into english. you think you're reading
the original but you're actually really reading the the
translator's reading, so you're reading a reader's text.

dunno where this corkscrew of a thought process came from
but it's true whatever.

well, the missionary position can be track #1. doggy style
#2... so while some people get a double-album, I'll bet a
LOT of people just get a measly 3-track ep! :D

offline japes from Suriname on 2003-10-11 21:24 [#00899024]
Points: 520 Status: Lurker

ha ha! nice one!

yeah. but then you can do variations and mixes, like a
gradual fade from doggy to spoons with a brief fallatio
interlude.

i don't even have a fukcin clue what you just said. but,
i'm guessing it was something about steryotyping all women
into one category.

yeah, surry bout that. i'm just a jaded, lonely, male,
dork.

i got into a huge conversation about music with my dad
today. he says it just not a very efficient way to
communicate.

i very much disagree.

he's a very cool guy. i'd love to get him into good music.
any ideas?

strap him to a chair and force him to listen to the music
you want him to listen to until you scream in his face
"satisfied? I was right!"

he's not that kind of dad.

he's a very aproachable logical kind of guy. i'd need to
appeal to his schematic brain, and then impress upon him the
art that music represents.

right now he is more expecting the raw data of books from
music than the emotive content that it music represents. he
doesn't seem to understand that music is more about emotion
than data. but, he's not at all a close mided guy that
needs to be tied down.
