Soulseek is an ad-free, spyware-free, just plain free file sharing application

Some Germans ad-people have bought up Slsk.org (which isn't affiliated with OUR Soulseek, I think... some sort of scam), and that site has pop-ups. Problem is, the Soulseek client automatically connects to SLSK.org through the web browser thing... they should fix that. But it's not Soulseek's fault, it's the ''new'' people at the old SLSK.org domain.
Don't blame Soulseek, he loves us and would never do anything to hurt us.

the newer versions connect to the new site, www.slsknet.org. I haven't had any pop-up ads at all, you people must be confused, or have the wrong versions or something

Yeah, I guess we need the newest version, because the old one directs us to the wrong site. I'm getting pop-ups because I haven't updated the client in a long time. I'll get off my lazy white ass and do it now.

I had a pop up just now. German. What the fuck is wrong with people? All they do is download Big Fat Liar off of me! Fucking idiots. Just because I downloaded it to my cousin (a kid!), doesn't mean it's the best movie ever..
I have two uploads set and you can bet your ass one of them is always that POS movie.

guys if you want the solution for the problem: for the ones who have windows 2000/XP open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host in notepad and add this line 127.0.0.1 www.p2p.ag then the website is rederected to your own pc

what's the point? the link is to another p2p program, and since I've never heard of it before, I will absolutely NOT give it the benefit of my current doubt

The point is that ww.p2p.ag can't be reached from your computer. But when you go to www.slsknet.org and update your client then my solution isnt necessary unless you really want to ban the german fake slsk from your computer.

probably because you have "view system files" disabled(i don't know if it is called like that but if you check your mapoptions(i also hope its called like that) than you can see them)

yo, speaking of pop ups, can anyone request a decent pop-up-stopper and where to locate it ( for free). "Pop-up Stopper" isn't cuttin' it these days.

i use the new mozilla 1.5, blocks popups automatically and you have your own list of 'allowed' sites.
