eno's pieces with harold budd are worth checking out to.

the pearl (eno, budd) is amazing

henry if you like music for airports 1 track have you heard
eno's thursday afthernoon. Its one track about an hour long
almost sounds like the first track slowed down (way down).
one of the only cds I can fall asleep to. I have a hard
time picking out a favorite of his albums. Apollo is damn
good but so is on land. eno is the master but aphex comes
really close with saw 2.

Oddioblender (formerly Organ Grinder) from from my own little fantasy world on 2001-11-17 08:29 [#00052984]

Brian Eno is definitely fantastic.... i was quite glad i
decided to pick up Ambient 1:Music for Airports. I now also
own "Music for Films" and "Ambient 4:On Land."

My fave songs by Eno have to be 1/1 from Music for Airports
or Aragon from Music for Films.

I saw a cd by him the other day with a version of one of his
songs that was 63 MINUTES LONG..... I have to check that out
sometime.

The track 'PROPHECY THEME' is a lovely track by Brian Eno.

Check it out.

Also the track 'MOSS GARDEN' by Bowie/Eno is amazing.

"an ending" by eno is nice. they used it in traffic
(whenever i hear it, i imagine benicio del toro watching
baseball)

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-11-17 16:55 [#00053027]

He also got some tracks on david bowies "heroes" you people
should check out. Also, lately i´ve been diggin some
phillip glass. Itaipu i belive its called, is pretty good.
not superior to aphex. but you cant compare them really. its
all good :)

balthus from europe on 2001-11-17 23:10 [#00053093]

i'm a great fan of glass. i got actually into aphex because
of glass' icct hedral orchestration. considering philip
glass you got to check out passages and music from the
screens, too. great albums (maybe his best apart from
koyaanisqatsi). itaipu is great. glass' recent chamber and
symphonic music is also fantastic (though not much of it is
released on cd), but i'm not that overwhelmed with his
symphony no.4, based on bowie's and eno's heroes. i guess
the original album is far better. for glass symphonies try
symphony no.1 'low', no.2 and no.3. the violin concerto is
awesome. and if you want something really weird and
avantgarde check out his album with early pieces like two
pages and contrary motion and einstein on the beach.

balthus from europe on 2001-11-17 23:12 [#00053094]

the prophecy theme is from the dune soundtrack, isn't it?
nice piece. and by the way there's also an instrumental
version of music for airports. produced by... philip glass.

balthus from europe on 2001-11-17 23:13 [#00053096]

benicio del toro?

'white rabbit!! white rabbit!!'

mescon from Sweden on 2001-11-17 23:17 [#00053097]

Brian Eno and Harold Budd :D
Correct me if im wrong, but didn't Harold Budd or Eno come
out with his debut 1936 or something? Really early.....
think I saw that in an encyclopedia.... first music to be
considered "ambient".

Sand Lepus from Louisville, KY on 2001-11-18 07:57 [#00053177]

I have that CD that you're talking about, Oddioblender.
It's a 61 (you were close enough) minute track called
Thursday Afternoon. It's great, woohooooo!O!O!O!1

corc from new zealand on 2001-11-18 09:58 [#00053195]

Ahhh... Eno, the days I've spent relaxing to your most
wonderful music... Music for films, music for airports. But
then all that changed. Those masterpieces were soon to be
left in the shadows of your booty-shaking work when
collaborating with a man named David Byrne and his group the
Talking Heads. Never has pop music sounded so smart and fun
at the same time and I doubt ever will. Eno (and the
funkiest white-boy ever, David Byrne), I salute you.
Without you this world would never have been graced with the
delights that are "Remain in Light" and "Fear of Music".
Never would I have had that feeling that overwhelms my body
when I hear "cities" and "cross-eyed and painless".
Ahhhh... Eno. The undisputed king of 70's music.
