heh... this is prolly the best movie I have seen all year,
and I normally hate action/martial arts movies.

This is also the only movie I have been to of this type
where the women walk out just as satisfied as the guys.

There is so much blood in this movie...

I heard they used 100 gallons of blood in the final 20
minutes of this movie. I definitely want to see it, spurting
stumps are one of my favorite things ever.

I hear that the fight scenes make the Matrix: Rebloated's
look like foxy-boxing. Blood, gore, and Terintino--the way
a martial-arts film should be.

ps. Lust Incarnate: a Cure reference in your "from" field!
Nice.

fantastic movie. i just saw it last night. excellent. not
necessarily tarantino's best writing, but definitely his
best direction. just pure craftmanship. i was completely
entertained, which is really all i wanted, and i was really
blown away by his control over his craft. the anime sequence
was pretty intense, i'm really pretty surprised this movie
didn't get an nc-17.
anyway, if you're a fan of hong kong action movies, kung fu,
tarantino movies, or just action in general, you'll like
this. no, you'll probably love it, unless you're an elitist
asshole who has to have a pretentious plotline in even a
simplistic action movie.

I agree with everything you just said. I also saw it last
night and wasn't quite sure what to expect. I jumped out of
my seat like three times, i laughed, i cringed (see opening
scene) and i had an overall good time! :)

offline pachi from yo momma (United States) on 2003-10-11 11:32 [#00898399]

yeah i saw it last night too. literally twice in a row! the
person who gave me the ticket gave me one for a time earlier
than i wanted, so i ended up seeing two shows.

besides that, it was one of the best action films i've seen
in a while. the type with a guns blazing, explosions, and
vehicular crashes just seems to be redundant these days, so
this was quite innovative. though it was extremely violent,
all the melee combat was thoroughly entertaining. there's
something so satisfying about the katana being the weapon of
choice in the movie.

BTW zaphod it wasn't yet rated when the previews first
aired, so it's possible that they could have potentially
rated it NC-17.

but yeah, it was overall a great action film.

yeah, i honestly felt like it was innovative because unlike
alot of action movies, it actually does something with its
source material, improves upon it.
and the katana being the weapon of choice was cool mainly
because they actually showed some damage, makes it seem like
a real weapon and not something that simply looks cool.
