Not strictly true- whilst people often claim not to recall what they did as an excuse for embarrasing behaviour, when you drink to excess (you can normally only get like this if you drink heavily over several hours) it is possible to "black out". You can completely forget the events from a certain point of the evening onwards, yet of not actually passed out. It's not uncommon in alcoholics...

it not uncommon in non alcoholics too. I can't remember my 21st birthday apart from a flash of two bouncers in a club in southampton trying to direct me and mate out as the place was closing and we were busy tripping over each other. Other than that I'm a very moderate drinker....
