EMusic: it's over

EMusic got sold and the raping began. Messageboards closed, server fucked,
subscription terms reduced laughably.

Used to be up to 2,000 downloads for 10 bucks a month. Now
it's 40 downloads for ten bucks. Just cancelled my account.

Ya know I would have gladly paid more money for fewer
downloads, but this is fucking ridiculous.

RIP EMusic

mmm it got good towards the end - Lame VBR encoded MP3s,
lots of great labels - Matador, Beggars and affiliates,
Mille Plateaux, etc.

*sigh*

i kinda feel the same way, but if I was d/l a single or
something, I might want to get it as proper as it can come.

iTunes, man, that is a good execution of what the RIAA
should have done a long fucking time ago. cunts

Some points:

1. I expect the message boards have gone because they would
be rapidly filled with irate customer complaints. I can
understand their motives, but it's censoring dissent.

2. Compared to iTunes and similar, at 25c a download it's
still a better deal. However, compared with what it was
before it really does suck.

3. I think they will have a much broader range of music in
the future, which is a good thing. Unfortunately for them, I
don't think they'll have any customers though.

4. I'm cancelling my subscription now.
