In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3

Their first album, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, was
simply the best album of 2002, and more easily, of the past
3 years or so.

I still listen to it everyday. I'm just getting into the
new disc without having heard any pre-release material, so
I'll give inputs as it winds on.

as a note: the albums are all part of a sci-fi story that
has been written by the lead singer, Claudio.

Every album reveals more and more, the songs are in
succession, so you learn more as you listen throughout the
whole album. It's marvelous.

much deeper, much more atmosphere. very different than the
first album.

It's telling the story, god, this disc came with a DVD
too............sweet

I'm going to keep this thread alive till I finish listening
to the entire album.

you all can continue ignoring a fucking awesome cd

sounds interesting..
i've heard a few songs of them.. not bad.. from what i
remember.. what are some songs of theirs you would suggest
for one to get a feel for their music?

their first album, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, bascially
explains and starts the story of the character in the book.

This new CD is way deeper. I would suggest getting a few
tracks from TSSTB.

Try "Delirium Trigger" "Everything Evil" "Neverender"

If you could, I'd tell you to get the whole album, and
listen to it all the way through, it does tell a story. If
not, start with those songs, and go from there.

yeah, i know it would be better to hear it all the way
though..that's pretty much how it is for all music.. but
i've got to make sure i'd like it beforehand ya know.. i
have this "shameless" song on my computer..but it's not
enough to tell if i like them yet..

shameless? never heard of that song. Could be an old
Shabatuie song, but I don't believe it's a Co&Ca.

Delirium Trigger is what got me into them, if that means
anything. "Time Consumer" is anothe favorite on TSSTB

hmm... dunno... it's just labeled as: "coheed and cambria -
Shameless.mp3".. it's not a bad song... the singing reminds
me of glassjaw a bit but with vocal harmonies.. with some
pretty fuzzy sounding harmonic-y guitar.. and some deep
screaming/almost death metal type shouting that comes in
about halfway though... weird.. don't know if it's them or
some kind of mislabel..

i'd say.. in emo in general sucks about as most mainstream
electronic/dance music.. there are a few good acts, but the
majority is terrible.. seriously.. i was listening to a
dance/trance/"progressive" house compilation of my friends
dad's friend.. it seriously made me want to puke.. 70+
minutes of "UMMMMP tsss UMMMMP tsss UMMMMP tsss"

agreed about house and etc, however, did you d/l more
Co&Ca?

if not, why not?

Coheed make me embarrased to own any albums off of Equal
Vision. If you want quality stuff off that label check out
the new Give Up The Ghost or some good ol' fashioin
Converge.

The new Give Up the Ghost (and "Background Music" of course)
is one of the best CD's I've bought this year.

The only bands I can stand on the EMO tip are Cursive and
Brand New, because they're not producing the same ol' shite
as other emo bands.

Cursive is very very good.

Give up the Ghost is decent, but I haven't listened to
enough of their stuff to say they rock hard.

Converge I dislike, and Brand New I have no opinion on.

----------
As friends rust, alexisonfire (distort) are a couple other
good bands off EV

Coheed being far and away the best for a multitide of
reason, not the least of which is the lyrical content
telling an entire story to be realease in book form, and
Claudios range while singing.

why do you dislike converge?

and where do you stand on Bane?

converge is too dark and heavy with me, to be honest.

never heard of bane.

Hmm.. yeah, Coheed and Cambria have been kicking my ass for
the past couple weeks now. By far the best emo punk out
there these days. Kinda irritates me that I didn't think of
it first, hehe.
I was confused, I thought TSSTB was their new album .. I'll
get this straight eventually.
Time consumer .. devil in jersey city.. Blood red summer ..
damn.
