it's really cool... one of the more interesting and better
Autechre releases I think... some excellent stuff on there,
especially Zeiss Contarex(sp?)... that's such an amazing
song... also, Pir is excellent, and Dropp, and another one
which I can't remember the name...

Not my fav Ae for sure, but Rpeg and Maphive are killers!

Couldn't find much on the search. Came up with thousands of
irrelevant threads (must be too vague a search term or
something?).

So far, I really like Outpt and Dropp. I'm on Liccflii now.
Not so keen.
It seems a bit like LP5, only more interesting. Hurrah, and
such.

its hard to search for ep7 as it is only 3 letters

the second half (including dropp) is my favourite part

There are some great AE tracks on it. Outpt, Dropp and Pir
are some of my faves from it.

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-07 03:34 [#00892488]

Second half appears to be better than the first. Yes. First
four tracks didn't do anything for me at all. Outpt, Dropp,
Maphive6.1, Zeiss Contarex, Netlon Sentinel all good. Not
onto Pir yet.

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-07 03:38 [#00892493]

Ohhhhhh fucking hell Pir is good.

you probably didn't find anything with the search function,
cause the search function sucks... sorry, but it's true!

the rest of the site rules though!

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-07 03:46 [#00892500]

Hahaha. Yes, I always have problems with the search function
too.

Overall, EP7 gets a 7.5/10.

it soesn't suck at all, you simply can't search 3-letter
words.

i rate anything tri repetae and after as being excellent. i
have heard amber though yet but ive heard everything else
pretty much. ep7 is a good buy.

ep7?

i haven't listened to it in months and months... pir is
good, and the 2nd part of it is decent, but... well... it is
just too "autechrian" for me (you know, this
particular beat-style autechre uses and over-uses...), and i
find it boring and bland most of the time i try to listen to
it, even annoying in fact... too much autechrian
beats and not much else... it may be be pure technical
music, it lacks soul... sometimes i find that it's all
filler except pir, maphive 8.1 and maybe rpeg... i like it
sometimes but it's really rare. i am in the mood for
it, something like once or twice a year. (i'm not often in
the mood for listening to autechre and i'm listening to
autechre less and less, anyway, but with ep7 this "symptom"
is the worse! off all the autechre i have, i only have
listened to some of anti EP in the last weeks... and 'go
sumo' by gescom..)

offline uzim on 2003-10-07 14:43 [#00893389]

(but even when i was still listening to autechre quite
often, i was only listening to ep7 very rarely)

Hmmm, I do know what you mean. Clicky blippy beats with
little melody, time after time. I liked it, but can
perfectly understand why you don't.

Ae in their purest form i think... *almost* a caricature of
their sound. But since i love their sound anyway... *sends
love ep7's way*

I think LP5 used to have the 'charicature of autechre' label
until Draft 7.30 was released. EP7 has the beginnings of
some of the ideas more prevalent in gantz
graf-confield-draft 7.30.

The Maphive 8.1/ Zeiss Contarex combo is my favorite part.

My least favorite track is Outpt probably.

EP7.. hmmm
sounds like an evolved LP5, as it should. in some ways it
seems like a regression though. I don't know.. it's like
cichlisuite fused with LP5, which should be 'fabulous' but
ends up being just 'great'.. I don't know, it's definitely
got some gems. The second track comes to mind.. but overall
I actually find it too easy. There needs to be some more
brain wankery in there.. not just for it's own sake, but to
actually diversify the sound image. Still, wonderful music,
great art, work of genius just like every other Ae.. but not
on par with later releases like Confield or even certain
earlier ones like Envane.

I listened to Envane, or half of it anyways, in bed last
night... I was half awake, half asleep, and it started
freaking me out... the second track seems to jump at me,
recoil, and attack again... it was fucking nuts, I had to
turn it off and go to sleep... it was a cool thing, but I
was too tired for it! :)

I see alot of confield in ep7 accept very unevolved but
theres one track that almost could be an early version of
sim gishel, it sounds like early demos of confield i think
anyway.

I can actually begin to see the connection.. I mean, EP7 has
a much more refined, precise sound to it as opposed to the
decaying meltdown that is Confield.. It's like, EP7 is a
high-tech computer and Confield is that same computer after
pouring a jar of molasses onto the motherboard. However, I
still think they're alot different. But I'd be interested
in hearing the track you pointed out as an early Sim Gishel,
just out of curiosity. If you recall the track number lemme
know! :)
