someone once gave me this tip about a very large electronic
music store called 'Stereophonics', in Antwerpen (belgium).
Has anyone ever heard of it?

I was planning on visiting them but i didn't have the time
yet...

Accually there are 2 ok ones in Melbourne

Peril Underground -
lots of breakcore/fuck off/noise shit records. also you can
get tattoos there and goth clothes and black t-shirts with
skulls on them, etc.

another place starting with 'S'
Synthastasia or something, - that's probably got the most
IDM there.

Missing Link - Punk, Metal.

Second Spin - Okish, bit housey. stores a few Warp records.

www.stupido.fi

and

www.disndatrecords.com

are the best music shops in Helsinki me thinks.

not to be an arse (just in case someone is looking for it)
but i think you mean 'stereophonic' in antwerpen (since the
yellow pages doesn't find 'stereophonics')..
i read some things about it, they have a rather small
assortiment and the shop isn't that big, but still
they get positive comments: "Really good shop. 'Hans, the
owner gets to know your kind of music fairly fast and will
help you find the stuff you need'."

i think there are better and bigger stores in antwerpen
though, just look at belgium's golden pages and search for CD
at the 'what?' part, and Antwerpen at the 'where?'
part.
that should give a list which contains some useful names and
adresses...

Selectadisc in Nottingham.

But we can boast the oldest record shop in the world here in
Cardiff, Spillers Records. So just you remember that we may
be sheep-molesting peasants but we are ahead of you all
there.

Big John's Records.

Pure music mess. The vinyl 'department' is hawking a lot at
'peenies' a piece.

Big John is an temperamental motherfucker, too; dude stole
40 CD cases years ago (which he EXPLICITLY ADVERTISES OVER
THE ENTIRE STRUCTURAL SURFACE FACING ARE EMPTY) and he still
wants him caught.

He writes funny comments on the artist dividers, too.

He's actually gonna give a FREE TOILET PAPER ROLL to whoever
buys that Korn vinyl !

It's a 'mom & pop' operation of the highest order.

Plus, he only buys stuff that's gonna play VERY cleanly; he
doesn't have the hook - up to get resurfacings.

And hey, I got my first AFX there, that's gotta count for
something.
